Quick synopsis of the death of superman event?

can anyone explain to me how superman dies and how he comes back to life and lastly if he ever regains his powers?

he doesnt really die his heart jus slows down very far and everyone thinks hes dead so really hes like passed out and he comes back because he slowly begins healing and all that but he doesnt regain his powers entirely

In 1992 (in our world) Doomsday escaped from a Vault buried deep in the Midwestern US, he started moving East and killing pretty much anything that he felt like. the JLA moved into stop him, and Supes was called in after they got beat down.

Pretty much from Ohio through Pennsylvania, and Upstate New York, Supes and Big Ugly fought in what was a last man standing, knock down drag out brawl that leveled a Lex-Mart, and several towns. eventually they ended up in down town Metropolis, took out several neighborhoods, and a couple unfinished skyscrapers, before making it to 'Times Square" (or the DCU analog) Superman Lit into Doomsday with heat vision and a Supersonic Punch. Big Ugly dropped. Lois ran over held him, and he asked "Is it over?" or "Is he dead?" she said Yes, and Supes Collapsed.

after being declared Dead, Superman's Body was Cloned by Cadmus, Stolen By Eradicator, and stored in a South Pole Fortress of Solitude and used as a Battery.

It was later explained He was in a Deep Coma, and likely would have gotten better within a week if they'd taken him to a tanning Salon (note sarcasm, but basically)

after he overloaded the Battery terminals at the FoS, he took a Mech (was still essentially Human) and walked under the sea to Metropolis, was informed of the The Clone, Eradicator, Steel, and The Cyborg Superman (really a bad guy)

He joined with the 3 'good' guys and Supergirl (this was the era of Silly Putty-Supergirl) They beat Cyborg and Mongul, Eradicator felt remorse over using him as a Fuel Cell, and recharged him to full power. Then Supergirl used her powers to pretend to be Clark so Superman Could save him and explain how CK came back after being thought dead at the same time Superman was gone, with out making people wonder.

i think it was 5 years later that they had teh Red and Blue 'Lightning' Superman Arc, and I don't know how thatworked, but he waseventually returned to normal after that as well.

Superman fights the monster known as Doomsday with the help of the JLA of the time.  Doomsday makes short work of the JLA and is left with Superman battling in Metropolis.  The fight boils down to each one putting everything they have into one last punch when the blows land both Doomsday and Superman are dead.

What actually ends up happening with Superman is he depletes all the stored up solar energy he has and it puts him into a deep deep coma.  When he "dies" his death activates the Eradicator program at the Fortress of Solitude which then goes and steals Superman's body from his grave and brings him back to the Fortress.  Whilst there he is put into this energy bath thing that eventually revives him, but he is at human power levels.  After a few issues the Cyborg Superman tries to kill superman with some Kryptonite beam but the Eradicator steps in front of it and when the beam passes through the Eradicator it alters and when it hits Superman it recharges him
