i am a volleyball player who plays club, and school. i am pretty decent and am an outside hitter. for my school, i played all around this past year, and i am hoping to do so again. nobody last year had any experience really except for me, and another club player. so it was easy to get the all aorund spot. i am thinking, that everybody has probably gotten better since this past year, and so have i, but i want to keep that all around spot for sure. what should i do to improve? i am 5'9", i can block, i can hit, i can pass, and i can set fairly okayyy. what do you think i should do to keep that spot?

and alsoooo..i have gone through a lot of knee pads, and i really like the asics sliders, they are great. i hated the asics big huge puffy "bubble" style ones, and the nike ones. do you think that the asics international 2's with memory foam would be okay for me? are they comfortable??

THANK U SO MUCH!! <3

  1. it sounds like you should have no problem, but that does not mean you shouldn't stop working out. Run, to maintain or improve endurance. Jump rope to increase vertical, which will help your blocking and hitting. You can also help this by using jump boxes. (they work wonders!) Since you aren't really a setter, I wouldn't focus on setting too much. Instead, meet up with the team setter and practice with her. That way, it is helping both of you. Other than that, lift weights, work on quickness, and keep your hands on a ball. Maybe you can even take some private lessons or go to a camp. One of the best things I do is call up my teammates. We play together all the time, which not only helps us bond, it allows us to learn to play together. By the time the season starts, we don't have to get used to playing together again- we already are.

Hope this helps and good luck! :D

  2. Well for my school volleyball isn't really the coolest sport to play.

So there isn't alot of competition. What really helped me get the all-around spot was i worked on quickness. i will be able to get to all the blocking spots on time, and i can move my 6'3 body around in the backrow.
