Quickest, most efficient way to communicate?

What would you say is the quickest and most efficient way to communicate overall? In terms of getting the most amount of information across possible. Writing/typing something and then having it read, speaking to someone with average comprehension, listening to radio, watching a movie or show, sign language, music, visual arts (deciphering the meaning), short form text chat or some other unmentioned form of communication?

There is no one-and-for-all answer to this question, because each case needs its own method of gathering information. However, I think "live" ways of asking for information are more efficient, because they are more interactive.
