Question:

Quickest Method to Make Caramel?

Besides driving to the store which is an hour away to get caramels. I have found out the sweetened condensed milk version will not be hard enough for what I need so I don't want to go that route, unless you have suggestions on thickening that version - I made white divinity /nougat and have pecans I want to roll in after rolling in homemade caramel. I have light corn syrup though???. Is that a good way to make thicker caramel suitable for rolling and sticking stuff to? And do I just cook it with brown sugar or something?

  1. i dont know

  2. I've used this recipe multiple times, and it has NEVER failed me:

    6 tablespoons butter

    1/2 cup granulated sugar

    1/2 cup light corn syrup

    1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk

    1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Boil the butter, sugar, and syrup all together for 3 minutes, and until it reaches 220-280. Then stir in the sweetened condensed milk and lastly the vanilla.

    I hope this works!
