Quiet Holiday destinations - Please help!?

Hi all,

My husband and I are trying to book a holiday! Problem is, there is far too much choice!!

We would like to go somewhere quite quiet, but where we can walk to a town or resort (perhaps a mile away?) but nowhere too clubby or chavy!!

Weve been to the usuals; Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Salou, Greece etc etc.

We are happy to go further afield like Mexico (can any quiet places be sugged for here too as it is 1 place my husband would really like to go!) of Egypt etc.

So if you could please help us! Its a difficult choice with so many places in the world!

Thank you and I look forward to the recommendations!!

M

  1. calpe north of alicante. been there 20 times.

or moraira which is mostly villas, but have two good hotels.

the swiss, and the joya. have a lovely time wherever you pick

  2. Luxembourg is really nice. I went there a few years ago for a couple of days, and although I can't remember there being heaps of stuff to do, it was a really lovely place.

I'd also recommend Salzburg, Austria. It's beautiful and peaceful and there's so much stuff going on.

  3. Sarawak on the island of Borneo.  A truly magical place.

  4. Well we visited the Gulf Coast of Florida in November and that was very quiet-lovely beaches, not full of tourists & great weather but close enough to go into the towns which aren't full of your typical chav tourists. Also Savannah in Georgia is nice-same deal-not full of tourists at that time but gorgeous weather, lots to see and do etc.Plus everybody is so friendly in the South of the U.S.

  5. Minorca, an island in the Mediterranean sea.

I would recommend you go here out of my own experience. it only takes about 3 hours to get there by plane. When i went there we rented a house just outside the Capital of Mahon, we had our own swimming pool and were only 2 miles away form civilisation!

if you do go you should definitely check out the Tapas Restaurants! (tapas are small dishes of food)

There are many touristy beaches but if you are and active couple you can go beyond the touristy spots and find your own private beach.(get yourselves a map though! don't get lost!)

they often have street festivals which include showing off their best horses and dressing up, generally a good atmosphere.

There are many caves you can visit and explore and many walks. However if you prefer to stay at home...you should get  a little apartment outside Mahon, quiet but not too far from civilisation.

    Hope it helps! Good Luck

  6. Try Luxor in Egypt. Stay at the Sheraton, which is at the far end of town, so is very quiet. It's right on the Nile, so you can go for river cruises, or just sit by the pool and chill. It also has a great curry restaurant, and does a superb buffet breakfast

If you fancy it, there's also plenty of museums, etc. to visit.

  7. Hi, why don't you try the sierra in Cadiz, Spain. I know you are looking for something further afield but you might be surprised.

You  can stay in several different villages and just chill out. Look at Grazelma, El Bosque, Olivar, Medina Sidonia.

They are a bit off the beaten track, but that's what makes them so nice.

    This website should help you.

    http://www.tugasa.com/

To get there you fly to either Jerez or Malaga if your further south.

    Good luck.
