Quinton Jackson: I did use testosterone to enhance knee recovery – UFC news
Quinton Jackson, the former UFC light heavyweight champion, recently admitted he took minute levels of testosterone before his bout against Ryan Bader in UFC 144 in order to heal his injured knee.
Jackson and Bader were scheduled to take on each other in a three-round co-main event in Saitama Super Arena situated in Japan. Unfortunately, Jackson lost the 15 minutes wild ride by a unanimous decision, and later on in an interview admitted that his knee
injury hampered the performance and he was unable to put up a great show.
Quinton has been in a total 42 brawls and has won 32 of them. Best known for his nickname ‘Rampage’, Jackson is a hardcore belligerent famous for his vicious body slams. He has fought in many mixed martial art promotions and has put forth the UFC fans epic
brawls to remember.
Quinton, before his knee injury incident, revealed that he might leave the octagon once and for all after crossing 35, but after the bout with Ryan the 204-pounder informed that he has revised his former decision and now does not want to leave his beloved
sport at all.
Jackson informed that after his medical check-up with an age-management physician, it was revealed that his testosterone levels are seriously low and he must undergo Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT).
The 33-year-old Pride Fighting Champion said that he took testosterone but within the allowed limits and he feels great after the therapy adding that he feels like a 25-year-old who is ready to pummel his opponents.
Quinton commented, “I almost pulled out but then I went to see the doctor and he told me to talk to an age-management doctor. So I went and talked to them and they tested me and said my testosterone was low; they prescribed me testosterone, to bring my testosterone
levels back up to levels where I can be like... so that I am the same as young people, like when I was 25, and it would help build my knee up.”
Jackson further added that my knee got hurt almost a month ago and in order to speed up the recovery I just took three doses of testosterone. The treatment helped a lot and not only healed the knee to some extent.
When asked to comment about any reactions regarding the matter from UFC management, Jackson said that he did inform them about the testosterone intake adding that he was surprised to know that the procedure is used by most brawlers in UFC and it is a normal
thing to do so.
