Quinton Jackson: I will fight Mauricio Rua after undergoing surgery on both knees – UFC news
Quinton Jackson, former Ultimate fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion, who was recently scheduled by UFC President Dana White to a bout with Mauricio Rua, said that he is ready to battle Rua but it will have to wait since he has to undergo
surgery on both knees.
Jackson, infamous as ‘Rampage’, is a veteran mixed martial art brawler who has entered the octagon 42 times, brawling on behalf of various promotions. Quinton has won 32 of his total bouts and collected 14 of his wins by knocking the opponent out cold.
Jackson has won seven of his bout by making the opponent submit and the remaining 11 by either collecting a unanimous or split decision. Quinton recently went through a series of interesting but dismal events.
The 33-year-old former champion, who is famous for his thrashing body slams, recently bashed the UFC management and specifically Joe Silva, the bout-maker, for not putting him against genuine brawlers.
Quinton in a lengthy press conference put forth the media his grievances against the promotion and complained that he is not being taken care of properly adding that he is a product who should be carefully handled and used since he brings a huge fan base
to the promotion.
Quinton went even a step ahead and said that UFC placed him in Japan pay-per-view because of his affiliation and fan base that he has in the country where he reached at the pinnacle of his career and is denoted as a legend.
Rampage Jackson was so much depressed at the scenario that he even offered UFC to let him go if he has lost the necessary appeal. But Dana White had something else in mind and in a short but startling reply announced that Quinton should take on Mauricio
Rua first and then leave the UFC roster.
It must be kept in mind that Quinton has already signed the contract with Pride Fighting Championship and will make a debut on his former promotion on May 25, 2012. Quinton in a short but concerning tweet wrote, “2 keep it real, the Shogun fight will have
2 wait, I just found out that I have 2 get surgery on both knees, but I heal fast don’t trip.”
Quinton who has already underwent a knee surgery and even took testosterones to accelerate the recuperation, if now goes through another surgery session on both knees, is a serious matter and it might bring an end to his career if he is unable to recover.
