Quinton Jackson: Mauricio Rua should train hard since I need to prove my worth - UFC news
Quinton Jackson, the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion, recently advised his last UFC opponent Mauricio Rua to train extremely well, adding that in his last encounter he had a dislocated ankle that seriously hampered
his performance but this time no such thing will happen.
Quinton, infamous as the ‘Rampage’ because of his thunderous body slams, recently bashed the promotion for several reasons and put forth the media a list of grievances he had against the UFC and its management.
Just one day after the detailed press conference, Dana White, UFC president, announced that Quinton can leave UFC as he wishes but he has to fight one man before leaving the roster, Mauricio Rua.
Quinton graciously and quite happily took the offer and said that he is totally ready to generate the sequel of his former skirmish with Rua at Pride Fighting Championship. The date, venue and other matters are still to be decided but Quinton is not stopping
at making his place in the media.
Recently Quinton shared his thoughts about his last opponent Rua and said that he personally loves and likes the guy adding that they both are good friends. Jackson recalled his previous fight experience and said that at that time Mauricio was the best man
and I was limping with a dislocated ankle that did not heal within prescribed time.
Jackson, who will currently undergo a detailed dual surgery on both knees, said that he just wants to beat Rua because he knows that he can, adding that he is working hard for his last engagement.
Quinton while advising the Brazilian Shogun said that last time he was not at his prime but this time he has to prove something and for that he has already started to follow a training schedule, so Rua should be well prepared this time.
Jackson said, “I got something to prove to Shogun. I don't care if I'm just coming off of knee surgery and stuff like that, I'm going to give Shogun a run for his money. Shogun better train pretty hard for this because I know how to train hard.”
The details of the skirmish are still to be decided but one thing’s for sure that the bout will take place before May 25, 2012 since from then onwards Quinton will be a part of Pride Fighting Championship.
