Quinton Jackson believes Chael Sonnen is exploiting promising fighters – UFC News
While The American Gangster believes he is great at bringing champions to the cage by verbally assaulting them, unfortunately others think it is a way of exploiting fighters who actually deserve the shots. Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson is among the naysayers,
believing that Chael Sonnen’s entry into the light heavyweight scene and getting a title shot at Jon Jones is a way of exploiting promising fighters like Glover Teixeira.
“His mouth gets his him fights,” said Jackson in an interview with Bas Rutten of Inside MMA. “What's his name? How do you say his name? 'Chael?' His mouth gets his a*s in trouble. The dude is exciting for like two minutes, but then you just wanna turn down
the volume, like, 'What the h**l you talkin' about?' He sounds like he practices his stuff in the mirror, and then he goes out and says it.”
“He's a great wrestler. That's all I'm gonna say, 'cuz everything else sucks. He can't punch hard. Look what he did to Anderson Silva. He did a great job holding him down, making a boring fighter out of a decorated champion, for five rounds,” he added.
It seems like Chael Sonnen has made quite a few enemies by provoking light heavyweight champion Jon Jones in a fight. According to Jackson, the only skill Sonnen has it of trash-talking. Jackson also emphasized on the fact that Sonnen has the habit of criticising
everyone, including president Dana White and the ring girls.
It should be noted here that Jackson’s comments regarding Sonnen’s attitude came in as a reaction to what Sonnen did. During the TUF season 17 press conference, Sonnen called Jackson a ‘Hollywood extra’.
Jackson did not just trash-talk against Sonnen, he even swore that if the American Gangster says anything to him face to face, he will ‘smack’ him. Jackson made it clear that he does not like Chael Sonnen and that he is not even close to being among the
best mma fighters today.
Finally, Jackson asserted that due to Sonnen, fighters like Glover Teixeira are suffering, who are actually good at what they do instead of just talking.
