  1. First off, congratulations for WANTING to quit smoking!!

As the others have said, something to distract yourself is good so you don't get bored and grab a cigarette. But an important point to mention is that once you quit, you'll eventually have to deal with the withdrawal (obviously, but it's one of the hardest parts).

For the most part, when you deal with withdrawal, you'll just have to tough it out, but there are some things that can help cleanse out the toxins and may help to minimize some of the effects of withdrawal...

Drinking water will help to detox, and taking some supplements that work as cleansers may help as well. Specifically, Apple Cider Vinegar, Green Tea (decaffeinated), Chlorophyll (fantastic cleanser), and even good amounts of fiber and water helps some people (although it's not very comfortable for the lower level of detoxification you get).

All that being said, it's likely that the symptoms should stop relatively shortly after your last smoke (it's never as long as it feels like it is). Your neurotransmitters don't take too terribly long to scream for something they are addicted to after you stop.

Another important thing to note is that no matter how bad it gets, taking more of the drug (and yes, nicotine is a drug) will only make the withdrawal last longer and will be harder on you in the long run. Good luck, and congrats again!

  2. You can do what you like...your hobbies...anything that shall keep you occupied with it for sometime...so that you won't get distracted from it.

  3. I took a lot of steps. Went for a ten mile walk.

  4. Just eat a snack that you can really fill up on, in an obsessive compulsive kind of way.

For example, I quit smoking 23 days ago, and I ate  2 bags of walnuts and 3 jars of pickles in the first week.

I'm off the pickles and the walnuts now, and I no longer get really strong urges to smoke (though I still want a smoke pretty badly). But honestly, just get a healthy snack and eat it constantly. Then, run around and get some exercise.

I need to do some running around now so that way I don't get fat. As a side note, I don't feel any better since I quit smoking. However, my teeth are whiter now, and my skin is kind of glowing. So, I think I might look better.

  5. Don't go there where are people smoking. Then, if you want to smoke, try buying chewing gums, that helps a lot.
