Question:

Quitting a job on short notice i need an excuse, does this sound good?

it was just a $8/hr seasonal job at pacsun for the summer before school starts. anyways im gonna tell her that my landlord called and my roommate backed out of our lease agreement, so i have to go back to the city my school is at early to find a new apartment. do you think she'll be pissed?

  1. It sounds like a reasonable enough excuse. If she's an understanding employer and you explain to her that you have no choice and you're sorry to leave on such short notice, she should be ok with that. Either way, unless your looking for a reference from her, it doesnt matter whether she's angry about it or not.. what's she gonna do.. fire you :P


  2. good excuse... she shouldn't worry because most employers should know that school is more important. using school as an excuse is smart. it should definetely work!

  4. No employer is happy when an employee quits a job for any reason.

    I don't think you need to give that excuse, you could just write your resignation and say "Thank you for the opportunity to work here but after some careful thought, I have decided to resign, my last day will be ____.  Sincerely, __"

    They will find someone else to do that job, its not that big of a deal.
