I've been working as a storekeeper in Dubai for more than 11 months now. Due to some personal problems I'd like to quit my job and leave for my India. And my passport is going to be expired within three months(i.e. on 11/06/07). Within that period i'd like to land in India. Do my employers have any right to stop me from doing so?

  1. It depends on your labor contract.  As per UAE Labor law, If the contract is an "unlimited" (open contract, not mentioned the validity) you can resign anytime with a 30 days notice.

If it is a "limited contract" valid for two years, you cannot submit your resignation till it expires.  I.e. both the parties you and your employer cannot breach the contract.  The only option is you have to compensate the amount that your employer has been spent for you while processing your visa, like fee, ticket fare, medical etc.

Check the contract first.  If you have any genuine issues to leave from UAE then there is no other option than submitting your resignation.  Think twice before to do that.

If you are intended to leave before the expiration date of your passport, no problem you can travel.  Otherwise get it renew in advance.

    Try your best, good luck.

  2. you can very well quit the job and go. even if the employer objects, if your passport is with you, then you can go. the only problem is you will be banned for entry for 6 months. if you have decided not to come back to dubai, they just fly off. dont worry. good luck.

  3. I think not..Your coming and going out of the Country is your

business and your business alone. If I were you I would

contact my local embassy or Counsulate and make sure I

had my passport and ,if necessary renewed it upon my visit there  and notify my Ambassador/Counsulate and  the local authorities that my employer was not permitting my return to my home country though I have every right to leave when I felt like it ,employers who do thiungs like that to their Employees

without a leagal reason can be jailed in some countries
