  1. I gave up smoking three years ago after I had been smoking for thirty years. It is very hard. You must keep trying because if you really want to give up you eventually will.

The gum will burn your mouth if you do not use it properly. I used gum and you really need to follow the instructions. I know it is tempting to just keep on chewing it but that is why it burns. You chew for about fifteen seconds and then just hold the gum against your cheek for a while. This allows the nicotine to escape and be absorbed.

I chewed normal chewing gum in between and it was only a matter of six weeks and I realised that I didn't need the nicotine gum any more, normal gum was doing the same thing.

I still kept nicotine gum on me for nearly a year - just in case - and it took me nearly two years before I stopped chewing any gum at all.

When I gave up smoking, I gave up while living with my partner who smoked forty a day and I know how tough it can be. The hardest part is making yourself reach for the nicotine replacement instead of an actual cigarette. You make deals with yourself too. Things like " I have been so good and I haven't had a smoke for three days, one won't hurt". WRONG. Three years on and I know that if I lit a cigarette today, I would be right back there, a full time smoker. I just will not let myself do that.

Keep on trying, try everything and all the nicotine replacements. Good Luck.

  2. that zyban is pretty good, i think they have actually 'upgraded' it now, its called something else, but your doctor will know if your ask him for zyban.... it works like this.... you continues to smoke and start easing yourself onto these things (the doc will tell ofcourse)... after about a week, ciggies will taste like ****... that is unless your smokeing 25wini blues-reds a day...... because.... this stuff 'competes' for your 'happy chemicals' against nicotine... after a week or so you'll be kinda hooked to zyban instead of nicotine, but zyban is easy peasy to stop........ honestly they a really good.... but like i said if you continue to smoke wini reds really determinedly they mightnt work cause your brain hasnt had a chance to reject nicotine....

besides that, go and pump all your money through the pokies, leave yourself with nothing to eat, no ciggie money... and u should last at least until pay day

oh yeah, there is virtually no 'comedown' from nicotine whilst your on these babies, you dont feel like a smoke, and you feel good aswell

  3. Smokeless ciggs? Stay strong and keep trying methods.. maybe try nicorette? ive tried it a few times and thought it tasted alrite. Your bodys just craving nicotine, i read it goes away the more you keep fighting..its like withdrawl from a powerful drug. It sucks but you just got to remember why your quitting and get through it.

  4. What you need is MINTS!

Little mints like tic tacs or whatever you have in your country. I had a friend who quit and just ate and ate and ate these little mints all day. They didn't gain weight because they were sugar free ones, and it helped them get over the habit.

Try it! And remember, if you give up smoking you must smoke absolutely zero, not 1 or 2 now and then, absolutely zero. I'm sure you know this though!

    Good luck!

  5. For some of us weight gain is an unfortunate side effect of quitting smoking. Even if you do gain weight it will only be a few pounds at the very most. While weight gain is unfortunate it is by no means inevitable.

You have already decided to improve your health by quitting smoking so why not make it a complete health make over.

By making some healthier eating choices and performing 30 minutes of aerobic activity(biking, jogging etc) every day you will keep those extra pounds at bay. Trust me, it is easier to prevent weight gain than it is to actually lose weight.

Keeping the weight off is easy if you decide to keep your healthy lifestyle after you have quit smoking.

Smoking is more of a psychological addiction than a physical one. If you really want to quit you must discover the reasons why you smoke and then eliminate or change these thought processes.

Once you deal with the psychological side of smoking it makes the quitting process easy, no matter your level of addiction.

Quitting smoking does not require any patches, gums, hypnosis or anything like that. These methods are expensive, time consuming and simply do not work. All that is required is a bit of motivation, self belief and determination.

  6. I think you should seek advice from a doctor or join any quitting programs. Just believe that you are doing the right thing and you can do it!! Try to get distracted from it by playing sports.

There isn't much wrong with eating as long as its healthy foods such as adding more fruits and veges.

Always try to think the healthiest ways for your body.

  7. Every time you want a smoke or eat drink an 8 ounce glass of water, This will help flush your system out..  If you must munch only low carb fresh veggies.  The walks are good if you have the time keep trying you CAN do it!
