Quitting smoking - how can I stop myself gaining weight?

I've just quit smoking, and everyone I know that has quit has put on weight, I'm already on the chunky side so how can I stop myself gaining weight? Or even lose some?

How soon after quitting will I see my energy levels rise? Would this be a good time to start jogging?
