Quixote enjoying the competitive edge at Lingfield for the ATR Royal Ascot Microsite Now Live Handicap
The Class 5 ATR Royal Ascot Microsite Now Live Handicap (Turf) will be hosted by Lingfield over a mile, three furlongs and 106 yards on Tuesday, 12th June. The race has assembled a line-up of nine three-year-old runners who will contest for the
£2,386 prize money.
Nearly all the candidates are familiar with the race course and a few have even claimed races there and that too during the new season.
Quixote, Singspiel’s three-year-old chestnut gelding out of mare, Rainbow Queen, has been active four times during the new season and has stayed pretty consistent by claiming one and scoring second in two with a fifth position in the most recent outing.
He kick started the season on 16th January at Wolverhampton over a mile and one and a half furlongs. The race was won by Gabrial’s King, the 5/6 favourite who led the runner up, Quixote, by 1 ¼ lengths.
Coming at terms with the third position was Rhyme Royal.
He then captured the very next chance on 5th March in the Breathe Spa At Lingfield Marriott Handicap at Lingfield over a mile and four furlongs. He had to earn it as the runner up, Gabrial’s Lexi, was reeling in at a mere head’s difference.
Reserving the third slot was the 2/1 favourite of the race, Next Cry.
The next two races found him ending second and then fifth. Having the experience of racing and winning at Lingfield in March gives him the edge of fairly higher chances today despite the competition.
An entry who has the potential of upsetting Quixote is Bramshill Lass, Notnowcato’s three-year-old chestnut filly out of mare, Disco Ball. Three out of her five tries during the new season were at Lingfield. She could not pull out anything extraordinary
from those chances but she did make the most out of her second seasonal outing.
She won the Lingfieldpark.Co.UK Maiden Stakes on 27th January over a mile and two furlongs. Bramshill Lass put the ½ favourite of the race, Cotton Trader, at a disadvantage of a mere neck’s difference.
The three-year-old is in for giving a hard time to the rest of the line-up today.
