Would it be correct to use it like this? :

Ophelia tells Hamlet that she has “remembrances of [his] that [she] [has] longed long to redeliver” (3.1.93-95)

the original quotation is: "my lord, i have remembrances of yours that i have longed long to redeliver."

  1. --I would use the original quote:

Ophelia tells Hamlet that she has "remembrances of you that I have longed long to redeliver" (3.1.93-95).

--Or I would paraphrase, thus getting rid of some words, too:

Ophelia has "remembrances" of Hamlet that she admits (reveals, etc.) to him she has "longed long to redeliver" (3.1.93-95). [You could even leave out "to him".]

--In this second example, I think it will be clear from the context (and certainly from the citation) that it is Ophelia speaking to Hamlet.

    --Good luck!

  2. If you wish to insert as you have, you should add an ellipse (...). You can also combine [she] and [has].

    That quote might then read:

Ophelia tells Hamlet that she has "remembrances of...[his] that... [she has] longed long to redeliver." (3.1.93-5)

In my opinion, it might make smoother reading if you tried something like this:

Ophelia tells Hamlet that she has "remembrances" of his that she has "longed long to redeliver." (3.1.93-95)

    Excellent luck on the essay!
