its just basically saying that man suffers because he has seen material things so he wants them, and if he doesnt have them, thats why he suffers

it was said i think when gandhi [or the other person] didnt eat anymore saying eating was being materialistic and he wouldnt die of hunger because he didnt care about materials

I think you didn't understand what Gandhi said about materialism. I think they were trying to say : is better be than have. just look all that people are losing their houses what they believed they already own. They didn't own those houses

they only own "a dream" . That is exactly that capitalism sales:

dreams with to having . but the true is after certain time

you become slave of  you pretend to own. Everyone working and stop to live just for having something.
