Okay my english final this year is writing a paper on a quote from the novel To Kill a Mockingbird.

The quote is "Courage is when you're licked befor you begin but begin anyway and see it through no matter what."

i need to name two ways Atticus taught this to his children...

im also having trouble fully understanding the quote, so if you could maybe explain it, that would be great.

--Thanks So Much ((if you answer this))

  1. i can only think of one way, and one way is the case.  he knew from the start he was gonna lose, but he took the case anyway and put his life and integrity on the line.  and then lost anyway.

the quote itself means that you're brave if you do something even knowing that you're going to fail in the end anyway

  2. It's like a game, you know that your opponent is gonna kick your butt, but you play anyway.  Maybe you'll win against all odds.  It takes guts to fail, but sometimes it's the guts that help you succeed.  You may not win, but you give it one hellava shot and be proud that you finished even if you finish last.
