  1. Take some advice from a 70 yr old biker, son. Joe Blow is THE biggest idiot God ever put on this planet, do what Byron said, and listen to the others. He went to the g*y Parade and couldn,t pick any body up, now he's trying to make life miserable for every body, plus he's suffering from a severe case of jealousy.

  2. They are the most comfortable ride unless you ride with your head up your butt.

  3. Mine is really comfortable and I've got a low profile seat.  It used to have a big cushion seat, but I got tired of it and the comfort level is about the same.  I knew a guy that had a hurricane and he had to sell it because his doctor told him that the angle he was riding at was putting undue stress on the lumbar.  I have to chip in with the others, Joe B, Magz and Ninebad things will ALL tell you how much Harley's suck.  You never hear about what they do like (sherbert, 90's sitcoms, and movies that star Sean Penn, I'll bet) ; but you really hear that-a lot.

  4. Joe B is not just a tool......he is the whole tool box.

  5. That could be true of any motorcycle.  All motorcycles come out of the factory in a standard configuration - i.e. certain seat, the handlebars are a certain style etc..  Not every human is the same dimensions, so one size bike doesn't work for every human.

Regarding the stock HD seat, if anything they are to soft.  The after market seats like mustang, corbin etc.. are all very firm, which is actually more comfortable than a soft seat.

Back and shoulder pain comes from not having the right reach and height on handlebars for your body dimensions.  If you go to harleydavidson.com and look at accessories you will see that they sell many many different dimensions for handlebars.  If your one of the lucky ones who have arms the right length for the stock bars, then you likely won't have back pain.  If your like me, you would want to get a set of bars that makes it so you don't have to lean slightly forward to ride.  After an hour or so of riding like this, my back starts to hurt, luckily that can be changed.

The same would be true of any cruiser or touring style motorcycle.  The BMW K1200GT actually has adjustable handlebars, you can easily modify the height and reach of the bars on the side of the road with an allen wrench.

    ------PS-----

What Maddog said - don't listen to Joe B.  He hasn't a clue.

  6. I have ridden my FLTRI 1000 miles in a day and been ready to party at the end. As far as reliability, in 6 years all I have replaced is brake pads and 1 battery. Posted speed limits? If I didn't rum my Escort 8500 radar detector I probably wouldn't have a drivers license.

  7. jerry, i don't know if you ride or not, but if you ride, go to a demo days at a harley dealership sometime.

doesn't matter what you read here, there is bias both sides of it here.  they moderate out the dumbest things in yahoo answers, but unfortunately, they don't moderate out the dumb people, so you will get dumb answers and can't believe sh*t that you read here.  go see for yourself.

if you'll believe me.... i say harley is all good, but i just told you not to believe anyone.... go make up your own mind

  8. Those full dress bikes with lazy-boy seats look pretty comfortable to me.  But you are always going to have the vibration.  The Superglide I tested was like riding a jackhammer.

Fractal....I love all bikes ever made with the possible exception of Harleys built after 1950.

  9. I don't think that they have a reputation for being uncomfortable, other than the hardtail unsuspended ones, they're just poorly built & won't go round corners like a proper bike!

  10. I could really care less about the whole Harley versus j*p debate, but I will say I have read many of Joe B's questions and answers and I can honestly say he knows less about motorcycles in general that just about anyone here. So take that for what it's worth.

  11. there are two answers to your question:

1)dont listen to anything joe b (lowme) has to say.

2)dont listen to anything joe b(lowme) has to say.

  12. Just read any of Joe B's responses and it won't take you long to realize he's a total fool.Case in point read the one he gave to your question here.

  13. I have a Honda VTX 1300, My seat is ok, very durable, but NOT a soft seat in any sense of the word, I do think that is something Harley did put a priority on is a softer comfortable seat, at least on the road kings from what the road king riders tell me. Are seats a the biggest  priority when buying a bike, NO, that's why they have so many after market seat makers. Honda makes a very durable seat, but that does not make it the most comfortable seat, trust me, after 4 or 5 hours, I need a break to stretch these getting older bones. But you know, so much depends on having the bike that's fits your body, regardless of make. One mans sore ride is another mans dream cruise. Just go out and enjoy every mile you are able to put behind you, for those of us who ride for the freedom,  just go out there and enjoy the road, seems lately every time I go out, part of me does not want to come home, I just want to keep riding.

  14. Mine is quite comfortable. There's a reason Harleys cost more.

    Don't listen to Joe B......ever.

  15. He is just one of our dips we put up with

  16. Seems awful stupid. How many crocth rockets have youever seen with over 10,000 miles on them ?

I currently own my third Harley and this on 2002 has 116,000 miles on it, not quite as many miles as the one I traded ~!

I get these silly children saying wanna race your Harley, my crotch rocket will creme it

    I retort

I'll race you title for title, oh thats right, you don't have a title yet for yours,

ok then I'll race you from Chicago to L.A.

You'll be in a hot tub in Nebraska soaking your sore butt and back when I pull onto Pacific Coast Highway !!!

  17. HD's are uncomfortable at any high speed highway speeds

they are not perfectly balanced because when the frames are assembled they are assembled different.

Many HD owners say this makes every HD unique, different, one of a kind

That's just a lame excuse they use to keep them from looking bad for spending $20K on a low quality bike.

To prove I'm right all you have to do is watch groups of HD's riding together, you will notice they ride slower than posted speed limits because the HD's are uncomfortable, unstable and hard to control at high speeds, and the vibration is horrible, vibration is a sure sign of low quality assembly.

People only buy HD's only because it has a HD decal on the gas tank, they only buy one just to show it off, to impress their friends, saying " wow look at me I own a HD"

Any Japanese bike is a better quality bike at half the price, plus has twice the performance.

plus: a HD is expensive to own, they break down more, require more maintenance and are very expensive to repair
