This is a quote that was made famous in the book 'Damage' by Josephine Hart and it was turned into a movie with Juliette Binoche and Jeremy Irons

The lead character, Anna Barton glides through life with little conscience and *unconsiously* wreaks havoc in others lives. She doesn't do it malevelontly - it is almost a sense of cold, numb resignation in her because she has had an horrific childhood and it has made her numb.

of course they can surrvive as they surrvived the horrific life they were born to ... so in turn they would do the same to others due to not knowing the difference between right and wrong or just not caring ...
