Question:

Quran's Challenge To Mankind?

by  |  earlier

The author of the Quran states in chapter 2 Verse 23:

And if ye are in doubt concerning that which We reveal unto Our slave (Muhammad), then produce a surah of the like thereof, and call your witness beside Allah if ye are truthful.

Hasn't this challenge been met before the Quran was revealed?. I mean "somebody" has already managed to produce the like thereof the Torah,Gospel, and Psalm. I mean at one point in history these were the complete words of God too, right?

  2. Muslims accept the original unaltered Torah (the Gospel of Moses) and the original Bible (the Gospel of Jesus) since they were revealed by God. However, none of those original scriptures are in existence today, in their entirety. Therefore, Muslims follow the subsequent, final, and preserved revelation of God, the Holy Qur'an.

EDIT: One of the means through which Allah has assured the protection of the Holy Qur'an is the fact that he made the memorisation of his Book an easy task for the believers. In fact, the Holy Qur'an is the only religious scripture that is memorised by its followers. Innumerable persons in every Muslim community have memorised the whole Qur'an since the first day it was revealed. Children as young as five years old and men and women as old as 50 years memorise the whole Qur'an as part of their love and devotion to the Book of Allah.

The one who memorises the whole Qur'an is known as a Hafiz. It is a miracle that the Hafiz not only memorises the entire text of the Holy Qur'an, but also the punctuation and diatrical marks of each and every word and verse of the Qur'an.

What is more amazing is that Muslims of different languages are able to memorise the whole Qur'an perfectly even though they do not speak Arabic. The Qur'an is not a small book containing few verses. Rather, it is a book containing over 6,000 verses! It is a miracle of the Qur'an that a Hafiz is able to memorize all of these verses in order.

So if the Qur'an had been altered, tampered with, changed, , then memorising of the Qur'an would have been a difficult, if not an impossible task.

If people did try to alter the Qur'an, or hypothetically speaking, if all Qur'ans in the world were burned and destroyed, the original Arabic would still remain. This is because millions of us Hafiz (or "preservers") would get together, and rescript it from beginning to end, every word and syllable.

  3. Adnan, if your question still hasn't been answered, let me know.

  4. let me tell you simple fact =

Isa ibn Mariam as / Jesus Christ son of Mary ppu them is man of great faith. peoples of faith act based on love of Allah swt / God Almighty:

    002.165

Yet there are men who take (for worship) others besides Allah, as equal (with Allah): They love them as they should love Allah. But those of Faith are overflowing in their love for Allah. If only the unrighteous could see, behold, they would see the penalty: that to Allah belongs all power, and Allah will strongly enforce the penalty.

But those of Faith are overflowing in their love for Allah.

Isa as  Jesus asked you to follow him, but to worship Allah swt = alone

as for your claim = not true for simple reason

al-Qur'aan al-Kareem SUPPORT / PROTECT the Holy Bible but contain more facts plus correcting all errors in H Bible caused by humans

Answer: How can I answer this comment..why don't you finish vodka first.

Edit: Believe me, your question does not make sense. You just have made your mind to defeat muslims without preperation.

  6. Its Not a Challenge Its a Guidence to Mankind !

Say:to them  "What thing is most weighty in evidence?" Say:to them "Allah is Witness between me and you that this Quran has been revealed to me by inspiration that I may warn you and all those to whom it reaches.  Can you possibly bear witness that besides Allah there is another god?" Say:to them "No! I cannot bear witness!" Say to them "But in truth He is the One Allah and I truly am innocent of joining others with Him.       6:19 !!!

  7. Dear Brother

Let me place the comments of Great Christian Scholar about the Holy Book Quran to answer your Question:

    Hamilton Gibbs:

    Quote

Though, to be sure, the question of the literary merit is one not to be judged on a priori grounds but in relation to the genius of Arabic language; and no man in fifteen hundred years has ever played on that deep-toned instrument with such power, such boldness, and such range of emotional effect as Mohammad did.[9]

As a literary monument the Koran thus stands by itself, a production unique to the Arabic literature, having neither forerunners nor successors in its own idiom. Muslims of all ages are united in proclaiming the inimitability not only of its contents but also of its style..... and in forcing the High Arabic idiom into the expression of new ranges of thought the Koran develops a bold and strikingly effective rhetorical prose in which all the resources of syntactical modulation are exploited with great freedom and originality.

Allah said in Holy Book Quran:

"And if you are in doubt about what We have revealed (the Quran) to Our worshiper (Muhammad  ), then produce a chapter like it, and call your witnesses (supporters and helpers) besides Allah if you are truthful. And if you do not do it, and you can never do it, then fear the Fire (h**l) whose fuel is men and stones. It has been prepared for disbelievers. And give good news (O Muhammad) to those who believe and do good deeds, that for them are gardens (Paradise) in which rivers flow.... " ( Quran, 2:23-25)

The Quran is one of the world's classics which cannot be translated without grave loss. It has a rhythm of peculiar beauty and a cadence that charms the ear. Many Christian Arabs speak of its style with warm admiration, and most Arabists acknowledge its excellence. When it is read aloud or recited it has an almost hypnotic effect that makes the listener indifferent to its sometimes strange syntax and its sometimes, to us, repellent content. It is this quality it possesses of silencing criticism by the sweet music of its language that has given birth to the dogma of its inimitability; indeed it may be affirmed that within the literature of the Arabs, wide and fecund as it is both in poetry and in elevated prose, there is nothing to compare with it.

    Abdur Raheem Green comments:

These are the sixteen al-Bihar  (literally "The Seas", so called because of the way the poem moves, according to its rhythmic patterns): at-Tawil, al-Bassit, al-Wafir, al-Kamil, ar-Rajs, al-Khafif, al-Hazaj, al-Muttakarib, al-Munsarih, al-Muktatab, al-Muktadarak, al-Madid, al-Mujtath, al-Ramel, al-Khabab and as-Saria'. So the challenge is to produce in Arabic, three lines, that do not fall into one of these sixteen Bihar, that is not rhyming prose, nor like the speech of soothsayers, and not normal speech, that it should contain at least a comprehensible meaning and rhetoric, i.e. not gobbledygook. Now I think at least the Christian's "Holy spirit" that makes you talk in tongues, part of your "Tri-Unity" of God should be able to inspire one of you with that!

    Islamic-awareness.com:

It is interesting to know that all the pre-Islam and post-Islamic poetry collected by Louis Cheikho falls in the above sixteen metres or al-Bihar.[5] Indeed the pagans of Mecca repeated accuse Prophet Muhammad(P) for being a forger, a soothsayer etc. The Arabs who were at the pinnacle of their poetry and prose during the time of revelation of the Qur'an could not even produce the smallest surah of its like. The Qur'an's form did not fit into any of the above mentioned categories. It was this that made the Qur'an inimitable, and left the pagan Arabs at a loss as to how they might combat it

  8. God wrote those previous scriptures too, duh!

If u took the smartest 3 guys in the world, a scientist, a mathematician, and a litterature person, and gave them billions of dollars worth of equipment, they would not be able to replicate one single surah of 10 verses.

    Go ahead, try.

EDIT: @asker----I don't think u realize, but there's a difference between "replicating/producing your own" and "altering."

When the previous books were altered, its as if new books were written with previous verses from the scriptures yet new verses as well; and people weren't probably knowlegeable to know that someone had changed these verses around.

But this is not the case with the Qur'an.

One person could not destroy every single Qur'an on the planet and then make a new version; plus, if that did happen, there would be millions who have memorized it and know what the actual verses were.
