R.A. Dickey congratulates Tampa Bay Rays’ David Price on winning Cy Young Award - MLB Update
R.A. Dickey, who is the Cy Young Award winner from the National League for 2012, has congratulated David Price for clinching the same honour in the American League.
Just like Dickey, Price dominated throughout the season with amazing spells of innings thrown from the mound.
While Price could not take the Tampa Bay Rays to some respectable position during the last season, his individual performance was commendable.
By claiming such a prestigious award, he has brought happiness on the faces of the disappointed Rays’ fans.
It is interesting to observe that both the Cy Young winner this year belong to those teams that did not make it to the playoffs.
Their respective clubs have been so below par that it looks strange they hosted pitchers of such calibre on the roster.
Dickey was the sole stand out performer from the pitching department of the Mets in the last season.
He piled up wins and tried hard to keep his team from experiencing losing streaks. Whenever the Mets needed someone to bring a victory for them, Dickey stepped up and ensured one with an extraordinary show at the mound.
Dickey expressed his happiness on the fact that Price won the award from the American League.

As far as contract extension of Dickey by the Mets is concerned, he awaits announcement from their officials in this regard.
While he loves staying with the club, he is conscious of the financial limitations of the team.
Even as Dickey brings pride for the Mets in the form of being Cy Young winner, the possibility that he is traded during the offseason remains alive.
The Mets confront issues in their outfield and infield. They need players that can handle responsibilities at those positions effectively.
By trading Dickey, they can acquire such players that help them in this regard. The fact Dickey holds an immense trade value at the moment can encourage New York to unload him from the roster and obtain young prospects in return.
It will be fascinating to notice how Mets approach the issue of contract renewal of Dickey after he has earned the Cy Young honour.
