R.A Dickey feels sorry for speaking against New York Mets at Citi Field-MLB Update
Now as R.A Dickey joins the Toronto Blue Jays formally, he has issued an apology to the New York Mets for being impatient during the ceremony conducted for Sandy victims at Citi Field. He has regretted his statement against the team.
He criticised the Mets the other day as he felt he was not being treated properly by them.
Dickey was dissatisfied with the way the New York were carrying out the process of negotiations of his contract extension.
After Dickey expressed his grievances, he was denounced by the team management.
The place he used to speak out against the club was not considered an appropriate one by the officials. Even some of the writers did not find that emotional attitude by Dickey as the correct way to demonstrate dissent.
It is a good gesture from Dickey that he has acknowledged his mistake now. Instead of maligning the club further after being able to find a new place, he has tried to promote the better image of the Mets.
In front of the reporters, he confessed that he should not have uttered harsh words.
While Dickey repents, he also clarifies that his situation forced him to speak in such a manner. He is of the view that he had reached a point in the negotiations where it was difficult for him to maintain silence.
"At the Christmas party, I must admit to you, that I was unprepared for that informal press conference, if you will," Dickey said. "I wasn't aware I was going to be put in that position. So I didn't have a conversation with anybody about what was going to
happen. ... I feel badly about using a time such as that to become emotional, and I want to apologize for that. That wasn't the venue necessarily to do that in.”
Dickey will like to forget everything that happened in the last couple of weeks. He will try to shift his focus on preparations for the upcoming season.
Indeed, he will be looking to live up to the reasons why he was acquired by the Blue Jays and make sure he helps them win matches in the 2013 major league season.
