R.A. Dickey inks writing deal with Penguin’s Dial Books - MLB News
It seems the book that the New York Mets’ starting pitcher R.A. Dickey wrote namely ‘Wherever I Wind Up: My Quest for Truth, Authenticity and the Perfect Knuckleball’ that was released before the start of this season has impressed the publishers.
He has signed a deal with Penguin’s Dial Books for writing three children’s books, two of which will be published in a span of two years where as the date of the third one has not been announced yet.
Dickey is a success story for the season and has arguably put up the best possible performances that can be expected from a starting pitcher. The mystery of his knuckleball has troubled batters immensely. For the same reason he has recorded 18 wins so far.
If he keeps winning matches at the same pace, he is set for clinching the Cy Young Award this year.
As far as his deal with regards to books is concerned, the autobiography that he wrote has a lot to do with it. The fact he narrated his experiences in life with utmost honesty and maintaining candour of all the events that happened to him has drawn accreditation
for Dickey from various quarters.
In his autobiography he discussed how he was on the brink of committing suicide by the bitter realities that he came across. His childhood misery as a sexually abused individual was revealed in the book.
The agony and the trauma that he went through following this unfortunate incident are described in detail. The best part of the book was about how his wife changed his life and helped him get rid of the haunting childhood memories.
In light of the success that his autobiography enjoyed in inviting readers, the three books that he is going to author now will attract attention even before they are published.
It will be interesting to see what he comes up with for the readers this time. In particular the book titled ‘Knuckleball Ned’ will be fascinating to watch as it is supposed to contain pictures.
The young readers will be waiting for the release of the books so that they can learn more about Dickey and quite possibly some baseball as well.
