Game, straight.
If the Yankees are going to beat the Mets, one of the greatest hurdles they will confront in their way is overcoming Dickey’s quality throws.
Sunday’s game will feature Dickey on the mound. The moment will be epic, in the sense that, just few weeks ago, Yankees’ starters handicapped the Mets and offered them nothing in terms of allowing hits.
Thus, retaliation for the drubbing dealt on the Mets demand that Dickey use his current momentum to maximum and reciprocate by putting them under similar kind of trouble.
Statements that are coming from the Yankees’ hitters give an impression that threat of knuckle-balls is not lost on them. Centre fielder for Yankees, Curtis Granderson, while praising the way Dickey has improved himself over the years, admits that he will
give them a tough time.
“Something has been redefined, whether it be confidence, whether he’s found something mechanically,” said Granderson. “But he’s doing something exceptionally well, and he’s all over the headlines, both here in New York and nationally because of the things
he’s been able to do back to back.”
Dickey recently completed two one-hitter games in a row and gave the volatile Mets stability after they suffered a losing-streak.
If he can replicate the same performance against the Yankees, he will put Mets on course for something special in the season.
Other than Granderson, shortstop for Yankees’ Derek Jeter was also amazed by Dickey’s performance in the last couple of games. Knuckle-balls are going to be one of the most fascinating aspects of the series, he hinted.
“Obviously, everyone’s heard of what he’s been doing,” Derek Jeter said. “It’s pretty impressive. Whether it’s a knuckleball or anything, it’s pretty impressive.”
Come Sunday and one can brace for one of the most amazing moments of the season.
While Yankees are making preparations, Dickey will love to continue his dominating shows on the mound and beat them on Sunday.
