R.A. Dickey makes Joe Girardi’s job tougher – MLB Update
R.A. Dickey has recently joined the Toronto Blue Jays. But as he joined the Blue Jays, the New York Yankees felt real competition ahead in the American League East Division.
For past several years, the Blue Jays have not been considered true competitive team as they lacked in pitching and hitting departments.
However, since the 2012 Major League Baseball’s offseason has started, the Blue Jays have done some remarkable job improving their hitting and pitching prowess with some major new signings along with a whooping several players’ trade with Miami Marlins and New York Mets.
Now with respect to these trades, the other teams in the American League East have alarmed and trying to make adjustments accordingly. News is coming in the media that New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi has made some public comments which suggest that his strategy has changed to enter in a new season.
Girardi feel that Blue Jays now possess Mark Buehrle, Josh Johnson and R.A. Dickey who will be giving tough time to their all opponents.
“The Blue Jays have done a lot to improve their team, Adding a pitcher like Dickey gives them another quality starter at the top of their rotation. When you look at Toronto’s rotation, it now has a lot of different looks and a lot of experience with Johnson, Buehrle and now Dickey,” Girardi said in an e-mail to the Daily News.
It makes a lot sense that one of the most talented teams’ managers is agree that they now need to focus with more detail as Blue Jays now are stronger than ever.
Dickey has also recently said, “I got to hear from the mouth of the leader of the organization what his vision was, and how I fit into that vision, It makes you feel good, that you felt wanted. You felt like you were going to make a difference.”
Last season, the Blue Jays finished at fourth position in the American League East Division behind Tampa Bay Rays but with recent trades with New York Mets and Miami Marlins, they will be tough to beat in the next Major League Baseball season.
