R.A. Dickey shows gratitude for New York Mets – MLB Update
R. A. Dickey somehow had to leave the New York Mets as his desired money and contract extension this offseason was not acceptable to the Mets. He was finally traded to the Toronto Blue Jays where he was also given a new contract with two-year extension.
However, the time he spent in the Mets franchise, is considered best in his career as he himself remembers his time in the Mets with great words. Moreover, this past Major League Baseball season was even batter for 38-year old knuckleballer.
He received the honours of winning the National League Cy Young with an exceptional 2.73 ERA along with 20-6 win-loss, 230 strikeouts and 1.05 WHIP. As Dickey left the Mets recently and has joined the Toronto Blue Jays, he is still showing his gratitude to his former club and its fans.
“The Mets gave me that chance almost exactly three years ago, and I will always be grateful to them for that. Only God could’ve written the narrative that has played out in the three years since. That is what I want to focus on,” Dickey said.
He added, “I am not going to lie to you, though. The trade was hard for me at first. This is where my heart was, where I wanted to be, where I lived out a story of redemption and felt that every one of you shared it with me in some form or fashion.”
On the other hand, apart from Dickey’s signing with the Toronto Blue Jays, the Toronto side was already equipped with some of the best starting rotations. Dickey’s signing has also added their thrust but still Mark Buehrle and Josh Johnson will make a good combination for their offence.
Buehrle, who is twelve year Major League Baseball veteran, is a great player and knows his game. He is joining the Blue Jays from the Miami Marlins. Before coming into the Marlins, he had a very promising career with the Chicago White Sox. Last season with the Marlins, Mark Buehrle achieved consistent results and achieved 3.74 ERA along with 13-13 win-loss, 125 strikeouts, 1.17 WHIP.
