R.A. Dickey shows optimism on his beginning with Toronto Blue Jays – MLB Special
2012 Major League Baseball season’s National League Cy Young award winner R.A. is happy to start his new beginning with the Toronto Blue Jays. He has recently been traded by the New York Mets.
“Now that its official, I want to say that I don't have words to express how grateful I am to you for steadfast support, Thank you for making me feel wanted, looking forward to a new chapter with the Jays," Dickey tweeted.
He added, “If that's the decision that they make, I feel like it would be unfortunate because it probably is going mean that I'm not going to be back, And that would be sad."
Later general manager Alex Anthopoulos said of Dickey, "I think there is a lot of ways to have a good season, but we do expect to be a contending team, There's no doubt about that."
It was considered in the big league that Mets will not trade Dickey at any cost. However, now several reports have confirmed that Blue Jays’ successfully completed the trade with the Mets.
The early reports which said the Mets will not be sending his ace starter to another team as he already played a wonderful last season. Dickey outplayed every opponent of his and achieved consistent numbers.
He pitched quite well and went ahead of all the Mets’ starters in-fact the entire National League starters and won NL Cy Young award. His brilliant and consistent performances include a season long well managed ERA of 2.73 along 20-6 win-loss, 230 strikeouts,
1.05 WHIP.
On the other hand, his career ERA of 3.98 along with 61-56 win-loss, 739 strikeouts and 1.33 WHIP also makes a good player in the entire league.
Now with a new team, he is also quite sure that his new beginning will be a complete success. Not only for his own game but it will also help the Blue Jays to grow sounder in the coming seasons.
Experts also believe that Blue Jays with acquisition of R.A. Dickey will prove potentially a trump card for them. He is a highly talented individual and possesses extraordinary skills which will give the Blue Jays offensive thrust.
