R Ashwin targeting tri-nation series for a turnaround – Cricket News Upload
With http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Ashwin-c2228 is hoping for a fresh start for his team in the one-day leg of the tour.
Chasing a mammoth target of 500 to win, the Indians were struggling at 166 for 6 at stumps on Day 4 with tail ender http://www.senore.com/Cricket/WP-Saha-c2800 at the crease. The tourists have already lost the four-match series 0-3 and if lose the ongoing
final Test this would be India’s second successive whitewash in six months.
However, Ashwin is not bothered about the outcome of the ongoing fourth and final Test, being played at the Adelaide Oval since January 24 and has started targeting the upcoming tri-nation series, featuring the hosts and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, for a turnaround.
"Every thing is gonna start fresh,” said the 25-year-old right-arm Chennai off-spinner. “It is going to be a different ball game. The colour of the ball also changes. So hopefully we can change our luck as well," he added further.
India was the world number one Test side just a six months ago, has looked completely out of sorts against a relatively callow Australian squad. They have not been able to match up to the Australians in any of the matches so far, losing by an innings twice
already. In August last year they faced a similar fate, as they were whitewashed 4-0 by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, and with that series lose, they also relinquished their No.1 Test team rank.
Despite a dismal performance in the series, Ashwin does not look dejected and said that his teammates have tried their absolute best but cannot rewrite the script.
"We tried our best and it has not come out well, so we have to think what's gonna happen at home, can't really do anything at the present," insisted the right-arm off-spinner who has 26 Test wickets to his name from just five matches.
The tweaker however rued, that there were situations when they had an upper hand but failed to capitalise on the initiatives. Test match cricket is played in sessions, and India did not win many sessions throughout the Test series.
