Lindstedt/Tecau tear down Tipsarevic/Troicki in opening round – Legg Mason Tennis Classic 2011
The Legg Mason Tennis Classic warmed up on 1stAugust as spectators saw the match between Robert Lindstedt teaming up with Horia Tecau to play against Serbs, Janko Tipsarevic and Victor Troicki, in the 1st round.
Playing at the William H.G. Fitzgerald Tennis Centre in Rock Creek Park, Lindstedt/Tecau won a tough match making their way to the second round 7-5, 6-4.
Lindstedt/Tecau has played numerous matches helping them in establishing a better coordination while playing. Robert Lindstedt , aged 34, has not been in the top shots but has been successful playing with the 26-year-old Romanian,
Horia Tecau. The two also went on to make it to the Wimbledon final but lost to the Bryan brothers. Out of their last 10 fixtures, the team has won an astonishing 9.
On the contrary, Tipsarevic/Troicki has a good reputation in singles but have yet to prove themselves as team. Their performances in the last 10 games have not been so productive. Out of the last 10 fixture they managed to win
only 5 out of them.
The world No.5 team in men’s doubles, Lindstedt/Tecau, mustered their way into the next round beating their rival team in straight sets. The dominance was stated out as Lindstedt/Tecau won an astonishing 83 percent of the 1st serve
points and 71 from the second. Acing 4 times in the set, the world no.5 team put up a rock solid defence that stayed unbroken in 12 games of the first set. Totalling 38 points including 24 service and 14 return points, Lindstedt/Tecau took the set 7-5.
The second set took off as Tipsarevic/Troicki opened the set serving first. The dominators of the first set redid in the second set stating 82 percent 1st serve points, saving 80 percent of the breakpoints and acing
once. Totalling 28 points together with 17 service points and 11 returners Lindstedt/Tecau took the second set and the match winning 7-5, 6-4.
Statically, the world No.5 had a better coordination. Their play had uniformity as both players had perfected their playing style. Selecting the best shots they had, the world No.5 dismantled their challengers in 1 hour and 7 minutes
to bag their win and make it to the next round.
The world No.5 wait on the 2nd round seat to take on the winner of the match between Aisam-ul-haq teaming up with Rohan Bopanna as the pair plays Mark Knowles and Xavier Malisse.
