R.M.V. Gurusaidutt advances into Men’s Singles second round at Indonesia Open 2013 – Badminton news
India’s talented player, R. M. V. Gurusaidutt, started his journey with a positive note and advanced into Men’s Singles second round after beating his local opponent Andre Kurniawan Tedjono in first round of Djarum Indonesia Open 2013 in Jakarta, on Wednesday,
June 12.
The aggressive Gurusaidutt, who is an un-seeded player in this Premier Super Series tournament, showed his attacking skills that enabled him to show exit to Kurniawan Tedjono in a 51-minutes contest.
Indian shuttler worked really hard to win the starting set but he found no trouble in the following game and made it a straight-set victory with a 22-20 and 21-16 score on the board.
On the contrary, Kurniawan Tedjono failed to cheer up his home fans as he could not play positive badminton on crucial stages. He failed to handle the growing pressure and eventually lost the match with a decent margin.
It was a spectacular fight in the starting set when the both shuttlers played to their maximum speed. They employed jumping smashes and did not let each other to dominate the pace of rallies.
Indian shuttler tried to create gap in the starting half but failed to push his Indonesian opponent on back foot. Until the break, both contestants were close on the board.
In the concluding half, the match progressed in the similar manner and both players kept the crowd engaged all the way with their attacking and positive play.
The score reached at 20-20 when Gurusaidutt showed his brilliance and played with great speed. His positive approach and incredible attacking shots won him the opening game with a tight 22-20 score on the board.
The interesting battle continued in the second game as well when both players again played top quality badminton. However, the Indian showed a great performance towards the end of starting half and managed a reasonable lead.
After the interval, Gurusaidutt did not show any respect to his aggressive Indonesian rival. He stayed focused and continued playing with precision all the way.
Kurniawan Tedjono employed all of his skills but failed to create any trouble for his in-form Indian challenger.
Gurusaidutt did not face any notable resistance from his opponent and finished off the game with a five-point margin of 21-16.
