R. M. V. Gurusaidutt bags Men’s Singles title at Tata Open India International Challenge
India’s aggressive player R. M. V. Gurusaidutt stood tall in the arena while playing in front of his home fans and remained successful in winning Men’s Singles title at Tata Open India International Challenge 2012 in India, on Sunday, December 16.
In the final encounter, the in-form Gurusaidutt registered his mark over his lower ranked compatriot Sai Praneeth B. while consuming 40 minutes in the arena.
The World Number 43, who was the second seed in Men’s Singles main draw in the tournament, displayed his remarkable skills and overpowered his fourth seeded opponent in straight games with a remarkable margin.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Praneeth put up superb show of top quality badminton in the opening set but failed to stay positive in the ending points. However, he could not put up strong show in the second game and eventually lost the match without
creating a strong impact.
It was an interesting fight in the initial points when both Indian shuttlers displayed their lofty craft in the arena and stayed close on the board.
Gurusaidutt tried to create gap by accelerating his speed but he could not take a comfortable lead until the end of opening half where the score remained close from both sides.
After the break, the underdog Praneeth did not lose his focus at any stage and remained stick around his higher ranked compatriot until the ending points.
At this stage, Gurusaidutt played smart badminton by taking the bird early. His wonderful speed and precision created the difference at this crucial stage and he managed to grab the first set with a close total of 21-19.
However, in the second game, Gurusaidutt played on a different level as he did not show any mercy to his opponent and managed to set up a staggering lead on the board until the 60-second break.
After the mid-game interval, the lofty Gurusaidutt continued putting up superb performance without showing any mercy to Praneeth and remained successful in winning the set with a one-sided margin of 21-12.
Gurusaidutt emerged as the title winner in India International Challenge as he ended up the final battle in a controlled way by a convincing 21-19 and 21-12 score on the board.
