R.M.V. Gurusaidutt beats Goh Soon Huat in Men’s Singles second round of 2011 Vietnam Open Grand Prix
India’s emerging star, R.M.V. Gurusaidutt delivered a phenomenal performance in the Men’s Singles second round when he crushed Goh Soon Huat of Malaysia at the 2011 Vietnam Open Grand Prix, in Vietnam, on Wednesday, August 24.
Gurusaidutt is one of the most dynamic shuttlers in India, who is working really well from the last six months. He played terrific badminton against Malaysian national shuttler, Soon Huat and won the match in straight sets by working hard for 38 minutes
in the court.
The Indian started the first game in a remarkable manner as he played fast badminton to put pressure on his opponent from the start of the match. His movement in the court was incredibly fast as he picked the bird early from the tape of the net and made
his rival run in the whole court by playing a variety of strokes in all areas.
Soon Huat made a few mistakes in the starting points of the first game which helped his challenger to build a gap. Gurusaidutt availed every chance of scoring points and reached at 11-8 until the interval. Soon Huat, on the other hand, played better badminton
as the match progressed.
The Malaysian became quicker in playing net strokes and drew near by reaching at 15-16. However, the Indian shuttler played positive badminton at the end and won the opening set with the result of 21-18, by taking 22 minutes in the court.
In the second set of the match, the local crowd witnessed the top-class skill of the Indian who built a good lead without wasting any time in the court. He continued playing aggressive badminton to avoid giving chance to his challenger for making a comeback
in the match.
Gurusaidutt remained completely composed throughout the match and never lost his focus from the bird. He clinched the second game in impressive fashion with the margin of 21-11 in just 16 minutes. This Men’s Singles second round match ended in 38 minutes
with a wonderful score of 21-18 and 21-11.
