R. M. V. Gurusaidutt slaughters Wisnu Haryo Putro to surge into main round of 2012 Singapore Open
India’s young player R. M. V. Gurusaidutt proved his mettle and surged into Men’s Singles main round after toppling Italy’s Wisnu Haryo Putro in qualifying round fight at the 2012 Singapore Open Super Series on Tuesday, June 19, in Singapore.
The talented Gurusaidutt found a wonderful start in the tournament as he faced no trouble in giving a severe lesson to his Italian rival in the qualifying round battle and advanced into the main round of the tournament.
The incredible shot selection and flawless execution helped Gurusaidutt to show his class and he hammered Wisnu in a 26-minute contest in straight games with a stunning margin on the score board.
On the other hand, the Italian shuttler failed to play to his maximum potential as he remained struggling to take the bird timely and also could not match the pace of rallies. He was quite helpless against the power play of his opponent and lost the battle
in two games with a comprehensive score.
In the first game, Gurusaidutt unleashed his powerful smashes from the opening points and gave a severe treatment to his rival by setting up an impressive lead at the early stage.
The Indian was pretty much in control of the game and he established a tremendous gap on the board until the one-minute interval.
After the one-minute break, Gurusaidutt did not change his tactics and also kept the pace of rallies high which helped him to grab the opening game with a spectacular 21-8 score on the board.
In the second game, Wisnu desperately tried to earn points by playing attacking shots in the opening rallies but failed to shake the impressive defence of his rival and remained far behind until the one-minute break.
After the mid-game interval, the Indian geared up his speed and played with precision. He was quite comfortable in taking the bird early and easily managed to take the second game from his rival with a stunning 21-8 score on the board.
The in-form Gurusaidutt emerged as victorious against Wisnu in straight games of 26 minutes with an incredible margin of 21-8 and 21-8.
