  1. Sonic Youth's "Teenage Riot" is about J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr.

Pavement's "Range Life" has parts about Stone Temple Pilots and Smashing Pumpkins

Sebadoh's "Freed Pig" is also about J Mascis

  2. Question one - Shine A Light by the Rolling Stones (about Brian Jones)

Question two - Diamonds and Rust by Joan Baez...I don't think she's ever said for sure that she wrote it about Bob Dylan, but if you listen to the lyrics it's quite obvious who it's about.

And while I'm thinking about it, Joan Baez also wrote a song for Janis Joplin...called In The Quiet Morning.

  3. Song For Bob Dylan - David Bowie :)

And I couldn't really think of any songs solely about musicians, but...

In Californication, Kurt Cobain is mentioned, and in Give t Away, Bob Marley is mentioned. And in Coffee Shop, Iggy Pop is mentioned. All RHCP. :D

Oh, and Shine On You Crazy Diamond, about Syd Barrett.

*Edit: I thought of two really obvious ones, I don't know how I didn't think. Sweet Home Alabama mentions Neil Young, and Heart-Shaped Box [Nirvana] is about Courtney Love. And in Pennyroyal Tea, Leonard Cohen in mentioned.

  4. Shine on you crazy dimond - pink floyd ( about syd barret)

Wish you were here - pink floyd ( about syd barret)

bob dylan blues - syd barret.   ( about bob dylan)

  5. Laurel is right - Diamonds in Rust was for Dylan, Joan mentions it in concert sometimes. She also had these about him:

    To Bobby

    Winds of the Old Days

    Time is Passing Us By

    Oh Brother

  9. Alana Myles ''Black Velvet'' and John Fogarty ''Big Train From Memphis'' are both about Elvis and Cheap Trick ''Surrender'' mentions Kiss........David Bowie ''Song For Bob Dylan'' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Song_for_Bo...

  10. American Pie - Don McLean (The song talks about The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Elvis, Joan Baez, and Peter Seger)
