I'll break this down a bit:

Concerts

CD's / Downloads

And do you prefer to download or buy the cd?

Just a rough estimation is all, so don't go running for the receipts, lol.

  1. Your Question just sent me into Tachycardia !!!!!!!!!

LOL -- Do you want the amount in Euros or Ameros ?

    .

    .

  2. Prob. around $1000.

I buy cds because they work with all music programs, and I love having them in my hand.

  3. About 400 to 500 a year.

  4. I spend about $500 a year in total, I don't go to concerts.

    I prefer buying the cd.

  5. I can't afford any of this shite.I download from a site I have paid for...E-music is one of the best I reckon Noel Coward rubbing shoulders with Miles and Coltrane with Bill Laswell and Buckethead with Gang of Four and The Fall and Sarah MacLaughlan doing 'Dear God' with a Barbershop Quartet singing "What'll I Do"..You can catch more on my Multiply site..'bhutanpigsinspace'..You can't say you weren't warned.

  6. Let's see...

I babysit once every other week. $30.

With that, i usually get one CD for...around $10? The rest goes in savings and for movies and concerts and such...

    52 weeks in a year...so thats 26weeks*10

    $260 for CDs

And then there's concerts...i'd say about 10 a year, mostly small-ish shows. Average about $20 per ticket It's probably a bit more but 20 is an easy number. 20*10=$200

Apparently I spend $460 for music.

Luckily my parents pay for my music lessons, and I take some free after school classes so that doesn't come out of my own pocket.

  7. Well, in the last month, I've spent roughly $175 on music, so, it comes to be like over 1000 bucks with concerts and all.

I buy the cds or I buy them from ITunes, depends when I want it.

  8. atleast $300 a year on itunes cards, and beatles albums, and all the other stuff that't not on itunes, or won't download

  9. I spend on average between $400.00 - $1,000.00 per month on vinyl LP's...sometimes more. As a collector, it's not uncommon for me to spend several hundred on one LP. But I usually have a box containing 5-15 records arriving at my door every week or so. I also do a lot of buying from local proprietors as well.

I buy the odd CD, and my downloads are free.

Concerts/live shows...I've been to several this summer already, so I'd say around $500.00 since June.

So over the course of a year? I'd say around $10,000.00...give or take a few!

    I know...I'm nuts! Haaa!

    *Edit -

The music I download for free is so old and obscure, that there is no other place these bands can be found online other than privately operated blogs. Most of the rips are from vinyl LPs'...as they aren't available in any other format. And yes...it's offered for free. This music cannot be found on itunes, Limewire, Puretracks, or any other online source that charges a fee. So for the people that get their panties in a knot when they hear "free Download", the option of visiting a site and paying for the download doesn't exist. With that said, I really don't have any feelings of guilt. If anything, these blogs have aided in the exposure of this obscure rock music, and without them these bands would be relatively unknown to the majority of people that now use them.

*No my edit above was not aimed at you. I wasn't even aware that you had responded to this question at the time it was written. Besides, I've always pegged you as more of a 'boxer shorts' type of a girl.

  10. I would say a couple hundred on CDs.

Seriously, I don't even like concerts that much.  My knees hurt after standing up for an hour or so and beer costs too much.  Better to sit in an Irish dive with a good jukebox.  Oh wait, I would also say I spend $50 a year at jukeboxes.

  11. Concerts, maybe around 1-200 dollars each year. CD's are a different story. I buy up to 30 CD's earch year.

  12. Jesus, Yearly...

Lemme try to figure this out. Ok...probably about $7-8K a year all told. I buy a lot of Music cause it's My main hobby, and there's the upkeep on My Instruments to consider as well.

And I buy except for, as Smiley said super rare stuff I couldn't possibly get anywhere else I download and sorta home-make the CD, lol.

And I know what You meant Silver, it's all good.

  13. I was going to ask the same question!

I spend around 2000 US Dollars a year give or take. Mostly on CDs and some T-shirts of my fave bands.

I go to concerts once in a while but the costs for that can range from 20-50 dollars.

I download for free sometimes, to hear a song or album before spending money on it, in case it can't be heard on YouTube.

  14. Well.... this year I splurged quite a bit because shows that I used to get into for free somewhat dried up :(

This year I budgeted for 3 concerts at a little over $600 (I was a bit of an idiot and failed to get the tix when they went on sale, so paid double for two of the concerts or it would have been closer to $400...) and then I added another ~ so plus $135. D*mn, I'm up to $735, and that's just for the tickets... gas, parking, a drink or two, the occasional tote bag or CD or t-shirt at the show... nevermind. I don't want to think about it! lol

    CDs ~ maybe $200 - $250 a year.

    **edit**

LOL, Deep Floyd ~ Smiley *is* a super mega music junkie ~ and why not?? :-)

  15. I spend maybe the equivalent of 50-100 dollars a month on CDs.

I have a good CD collection, somewhere around 900-1000 CDs so they are all back up-ed to my hard disc now and I can listen to all those songs on my Itunes now which is convenient. I have a small Ipod, a 4 Giga Nano that has an ever changing selection of some 700 songs give or take... but I have never downloaded from Itunes store. I download for free and if I like the albums I get the CDs.

I have been to 3 rock concerts this year and as I take my kids along it is quiet expensive for the 4 of us, this year around 700 dollars.

Edit to Smiley!!! Prof Dr. you are a super mega music junkie but you rock. cool!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Well, I've just recently gotten into music, so I'll just do an estimation of what I've spent this year so far. I don't have a job, by the way, so I'm pretty much broke. I'd say it's about $155 so far this year.

  17. NOTHING...JUST LISTEN TO XM-RADIO.

  18. Concerts : N/A

I've only been to two {in 2003}: first one I won the ticket, second ticket was a gift

    CDs : In the last 9 months, about £475.00 GBP {that's around $950+ USD}

d**n! I hadn't realised it was so much...

Downloads : In the last 9 months, about £50.00, I think...

For the most part, I buy CDs, but I will download if I'm only looking for one or two particular songs {and yes, I PAY for all my downloads}.

    ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~

    Five t-d trolls?!

Don't tell me, they object to the fact that I do things legal and pay for my downloads!

People, you are downright immature and pathetic. If you want to be useful to society, grow up for pity's sake...

    Smiley :

If your edit was aimed at me, I *wasn't* refering to you.

I was talking about all those Limewire users...

Ummm... I think your last comment got lost in translation...

  19. After the concerts and stuff, it's somewhere near 1000 dollars.
