  1. not bad at all, but haven't listened to them in a long time

  2. pretty good

  3. I love R.E.M.

They're such an underappreciated band in this day and age, although they used to be huge. How can you not like Peter Buck? Stipe's songwriting and vocals have been widely influential and enjoyable.

    Favorite albums:

    Murmur

    Out of Time

    Green

    Document

    Favorite songs:

    Radio Free Europe

    Orange Crush

    Losing My Religion

    Stand

    Pilgrimage

    Shiny Happy People

    Moral Kiosk

    West of The Fields

    Texarkana

    Disturbance At The Heron House

    Welcome To The Occupation

    Man On The Moon

Those are just a few, R.E.M.'s put out a good amount of albums.

I have their new album, but I haven't listened to it yet, although I did like the single "Hollow Man". Reviews weren't fantastic, but s***w the critics anyway.

Edit: Hey Huevo! Thanks, everything good over here. Have you ever seen them live? I'd like to.....I missed them last time around. Hope all is well.

  4. they're pretty awesome.

  5. i like REM, they create some catchy tunes too.

cannot rate them with some of the great bands, but definitely on the list.

  6. I think its an okay band

NP:By The Way -Red Hot Chili Peppers

  7. Love 'em...except Stand is not nearly their best song like everyone seems to think.

  8. There is a soft spot in my heart for them... I came age when they were cool, and small, and indy. I can't stand the "Losing My Religion", "Everybody Hurts" c**p... Bittersweet Me was their last gasp.

    Give me great rock like:

    So. Central Rain

    Superman

    Driver 8

    Fall On Me

    The One I Love

It's the End of the World (and I feel fine)

    Radio Free Europe

    Orange Crush

That is the good stuff. Now days each new REM release is supposed to be the BIG return of REM... I quote Bono... "What ever happened to REM?"

  9. Good call Cold Roses!  Hope all's well on your end!

I love REM as well.  Nothing more to say there.  During the late 80's I was obsessed with them, picking up one older album after another, stopping and listening to each one as if it were an old friend speaking to me.  Towards the latter years of their careers they had a few clunkers but overall REM has had as solid a career as any other band in the history of music.  I want to get their new one, the only one I have yet to hear (although I don't own the last couple but have listened to them).  The few songs I have heard though remind me more of a Document-era style than what they had been putting out recently.

Favorite album?  Without a doubt Life's Rich Pagaent.  Begin The Begin, Fall On Me, Cuyahoga, I Believe, Swan Swan H....a solid collection of some of my favorite songs.  Other favorite albums include Murmur, Document, and Out Of Time.  Songs include Gardening at Night, Life and How To Live It, World Leader Pretend, Rockville, Texarkana, Drive, too many to add.  Just thinking of them makes me feel good and that's not a bad thing at all.

CR:  Hope to chat soon CR!  The only time I've ever seen them was back in '89 for the Green tour.  Every time they've come around since I did not know until too late or I did not have the dough.  I'd love to catch them again if for nothing more than old time's sake.I can honestly say they were the first rock band I truly got into and it was a long run where they were my favorite band, and still in my top 10 of all time if I ever bothered to figure out that high.

  10. rapid eye movement is the name for sudden and quick eye movements during slee...

    oh, the band? lol

yeah, they are great...michael stipe is an extremely underrated songwriter, his lyrics are so poignant and beautiful...definitely at the top of the alternative rock mountain

  11. Hey bro

ummm, they are okay but OVERRATED. when that one song came out "loosing my decisions” or was what “loosing my religion”?? something like that, and I have never had a religion really but loosing must Suck, anyway I was beginning my teens somewhere around there and they played on some lame show called 912154 or 90125 or 90210 or something with the hot chick Shannon wortty, anyway after they played it on that trendy show they HIT IT BIG and went overrated from there
