  1. Focus on one area of the Sixties/Seventies. Perhaps mods & rockers, or reinterpret album art (this could be fun).

Try psychedelic art or interpret songs through your drawings.

  2. You could draw the dark Side of the Moon cover. Wait a minute!!!! You could draw a big Union Jack on the whole thing, and in a big circle you could draw your favorite band logos!!!!!!!! Its so brilliant, it might just work!!!

  3. I would try not to copy some symbol or image that was done in the 60s, at least directly related to a certain band. I think you're in high school. If you plan on applying to art school, keep in mind that schools hate when you draw/paint celebs, marquees, and logos that have been done before. That doesn't take creativity like a graphic designer needs.

What I would suggest to you is that you use the color palette that was prominent in the sixties: the stuff of Peter Max and old ads. That's just for the color. Then use those in your own imagery. This can be new imagery: computers, new guitars, soundboards, etc. Start saving things from magazines and pictures you take that you really like. Believe me, they will come in handy.

Simplify the complicated things into line drawings that will play to your strengths as an artist.

I'll edit if I think of anything else.

  4. Just some ideas :

  5. I don't know if this would be appropriate or not, it might be rubbish lol, but it's just a thought:

You could decorate it with all different photos of your favorite bands, some black and white pics, some in color. Then you could change them, like adding colors & effects.... Maybe painting some key parts on black & white photos a bright color, or using pastel crayons.

You could trace the singers' faces onto different materials, like metallic foils or different kinds of paper.

Or you could trace some photos onto your page, then color them in with different stuff (paints, wax crayons, inks, colored chalks...)

Use your computer to manipulate the images, make some of the really tall & thin, some really wide and short... Think how we look in Fun House mirrors at Amusement parks!

You'd have to be imaginative, really play around with all the photos. I'd do a mixture of all the different things i listed, some of everything. Make up some of your own ideas, do whatever you want.... You could even make some of the photos 3D, by sticking things on top of them in key areas (thicker cards, paper mache, string, beads....)

Arrange all the photos on your page, at different angles, until it looks cool. Sorry i've gone on to long.... =o]

  6. You could do the exploding Hindenburg from Led Zeppelin (I)...

Or just any kind of zeppelin...

Not drawing people makes this difficult...

  7. Well what I wanna do is just make entire Who Collages and just add it to my books, portfolios, binders, etc :]

i duno how i can help you though because i cant draw either >.<

um maybe just do abunch of logos and draw a bunch of music notes, and gah!! ill edit ;]

  8. ICSFM, I'd do it with a Who theme (My Generation, Baba O'Reilly, Athena, etc.)  You could relate it to today's current events and stuff.  Good luck!!!

  9. Try some iconic rock images, but put your own twist on them. There was someone in here the other day who did basically that (with brilliant results,) but his name escapes me. some images:

  10. We had to do something similar when I was at school.

I decided to focus on the 1960's, and partialy incorporate the 'hippy' theme, by drawing these huge flowers, and then drawing pictures on a certain theme within the petals of each flower {one subject per flower}.

Not long after, it inspired me to do this :

Let's see if we can find Ladytron ~ she seems to be the art-music combo expert! :)
