R&P..what is you Opinion of MySpace.. and what if anything do you use it for?

Question

I used to pretty much bag on it..then a coupla of my contacts sorta bullied me into making one *coughdeepfloydcoughdiveintoaholyriverco... ...

And since then.. ihave used it to communicate with a lot of Bands..and had some really cool ones contact me.. so I have foudn a LOT of new Metal bands through it.... (something that I have not seen happen thru 360, Imeem or Multiply)

I guess you could say my opinion has sorta changed....

MQ- What good bands have you dicovered by following Myspace links?

it's ok. i use it to talk to some of my friends. one of my friends doesnt use aim so i use it to talk to her. i found the band The Days The Nights there. They're pretty good.

Well, it's ok, I use it to add as friends bands and musicians I like, leaving them comments, sending messages...

MQ-I don't discover new bands, just add the ones I already like

i had one for a while but i never made any friends...i just got friends on other sites and they happend to have a myspace. but ya...it was kinda fun making a page but then it really stinks plus there are lots of viruses on there.

so overall i hate it

i first heard dragonforce through my cuzinz myspace page.

I use to have an account there. I usually go on there whenever I find out a band I like has uploaded new  songs. I'll say this it's starting to become a really good source for music.

I went to a really big high school so I use it to keep up with people I don't necessarily feel like talking to or hanging out with, but I've also found it's a GREAT way to discover new and/or local bands. Before going to shows now, I always look up the band on myspace to see how I like them.

I dont have one...but if one of my friends in on theirs i usually look up bands... every band has a myspace now lol.

I don't have a Myspace profile anymore but when I had it , I discovered:

Juggernaut - Southern Metal band (Benji the bassist sent me their debut album)

Lunarmile - Tony Marie the vocalist (gave me one of their demos)

J.Allen - grunge band from Greece, they gave me one of their demos too

Space Probe Taurus - stoner rock from Sweden , I'm trying to get their debut album  

Sons Of Caine - Southern Metal from England - they too gave me one of their demos

Lowrider - Stoner rock from Sweden , I get their debut album "Ode to IO"

all great discoverings

i use myspace as a tool for music all the time, from finding new bands to seeing if the warm up band for a show i am going to is going to suck. a lot of obscure and local bands it is the only way to hear them without buying an album.

also sometimes i use it to share the projects i am working on with friends.

MA- the aggrolites, mr. something something, jim murple memorial, a lot of bands actually. but i have heard a lot of bands that suck on there too.

Myspace is incredible for finding people with common interest and people you lost touch with, i have to admit i'm a bit addicted! LOL

I have found some very interesting bands...from the Austrian Death Machine (death metal all about arnold Schwarzenegger) from awesome local bands in my area like In-Rage and 650 North

I've had myspace for 3 years and somehow accumulated almost 7000 friends on it. I love it because I meet new people from all over the world who share my interests and my taste in music. Some of these people have become my best friends and I've even had a few relationships develop because I met the person on myspace. You're definitely right about discovering new bands - I discover new ones every day and that's actually how I found out about some of my favorite ones! Personally, I LOVE myspace except for all the b*tches and the perverts, but it's great and I'm completely addicted!

I haven't found out about all these bands over myspace... most of them I actually found out from a metal forum site, but these are some I've disovered:

Vains Of Jenna, Danger, Pretty Wild, Guttersluts, Peppermint Creeps, Crimson Coven, Nothin To Lose, Sexmess, Dirty Penny, Hardcore Superstar, Archeon, Children Of Bodom, Bathory, Dragonforce, In Flames, Carcass, Norther, Ensiferum, Wintersun, Vio-Lence.

i use it for checking out bands ive seen at gigs like support bands and stuff.

and the best bit is the fact you can find old friends from primary school or people you knew when you were younger.

and i guess its also good for bands and stuff so they can try and get noticed.

I'm not allowed to have one, although I really want one. I use it a lot to find new music and stuff though, so other than the fact that I don't have one, I think it's great....

I joined it ages ago but don't really use it much for some reason. I must sit down to it someday and use it properly. I haven't really discovered any bands through it but I like to save them to check em out again.

I use it to keep in touch with friends from high school who live on the other side of the country.  Welcome to the world of myspace.

The reason I got started on Myspace was just to keep up with friends from high school and other people I don't get to see very often.  Now the main thing I use it for is finding new bands to listen to and getting updates on bands I already know.  A lot of my friends aren't as obsessed with music as I am and they think it's annoying to get friend requests from bands, but that's my favorite thing about Myspace!

Myspace is okay...I basically use it to know when local shows are, find new bands, support bands, and the rare form of talking to people.

MA: Well the one that comes to mind is Liferuiner, because I'm listening to them now :)
