I know it is legal to have s*x with someone if they are within 5 years  (or maybe it is 3) in age difference. But I think that is between minors.

This depends on both your maturity levels.  Does she like you?  If she does maybe you could both talk to your parents and work something out so you date in a group to keep everything on the level and honest.

You are an adult, she is but a teen. Age doesn't seem to matter so much when you are 16 or 17,  but once you hit adulthood things change.

What you should be doing now is meeting girls closer to your age and interests,  taking the necessary steps to become a responsible adult, and allowing her the chance to grow up.

You'll probably find that you are far more interested in girls your own age, but if, when you are 20, you still find yourself attracted to her, then it would probably be reasonable to ask her out --providing you seek permission from her parents first. She will only then be 16 or 17, a young woman, but far from mature. That's why you ask her parents for permission to date.

Kids your age think they know what they want, but having gone through something similar with my own son (who is now 23) he found that by the time he'd reached 19, whatever interest he'd had in this girl had waned.
