R U as baffled by the recent supreme court decision outlawing the death penalty for sadistic child rape?

The justices that voted to outlaw such a death penalty provision agreed that only murder can warrant the death penalty. However, they all know that Treason, Espionage, and Mutiny are crimes for which a person can be sentenced to death whether they killed someone or not.

This is a tough one. I have dated a couple of women who were victims of this (always relatives) and it turns my f*****g stomach. But ,when do you enforce this? What if there was no penetration? Is it the same if a woman does it to a boy? What if a woman does it to a girl?

I feel the line may have been crossed .I agree with the court, but with a deep degree of reluctance.

Yes, good point.  I heard about that today and was saddened by it.  How can there be a sentence too harsh for the rape of a child?  I don't get it.

Not at all. Opening up the "floodgates" of the death penalty for more crimes against person than homicide could have dire consequences.

And, why is sexual assault the only type of assault that gets the penalty. What about first degree assault that leaves a person blind, crippled or causes brain injury? Does the assaulter here deserve a more lenient punishment when the victim may never see, walk or work again?

That'll get you convicted and will probably change your mind when you see how easily the law can be manipulated.

You make it easy to "off" someone and every divorce will involve her claiming child rape on him.

No, I am neither surprised nor baffled.  After what has been quietly going on while we're condemning the horrible job the Republicans and President Bush have been doing, the liberals have been pushing their agenda quietly through every moral fabric of this country...(see California).

Why should we be baffled?  I'm baffled by the number of people who still argue that the death penalty doesn't deter crime, or even more horrible....maybe child rapists will leave their victims alive because they know that they won't be executed for their crimes.

Justice, not suppositions or statistics!  How much punishment should a person get for raping a child!

I heard someone say that if someone raped their child that they would kill them (loving father).  I completely agree that I would probably do the same if someone touched my little girl!

Is that premeditated if I am thinking about it now?  

Knowing that these pervs get out and do it again angers me to no end!  Cut off their ***** if it's a man, and if it's a woman then give her an incomplete genitalia change (don't give her a p***s or hormones).

I don't think we should have the death penalty at all except in some special cases, which I'm not going to get into here, as its fairly complex. However, since we do, the idea that only murder warrants the death penalty is inconsistent with our system of justice. We don't cut off your hand for stealing. We certainly don't rape rapists (they often get raped in prison, but its not like that's an intentional part of the punishment). I see no reason why murder should be the only crime that warrants the death penalty.

They are a bunch of liberal dip s***s. Every one needs more programs and rehabilitation to adjust to society. What a load a c**p. People who commit sadistic child rape are sick in the head. And I mean that literally. That kind of act is what turns them on, what gets them excited. This is not something you can cure or rehabilitate them. To them it is as simple as a man being turned on by a woman. That kind of sick act is what gets them going. Just like a dog that attacks....a person who commits child rape should be put to sleep. Quit wasting tax payer dollars to keep them in prison.

Yeah!! They say its cruel and unusual punishment, but  isn't raping a child also cruel and unusual. Its been proven that rapist are people that cannot be helped. Why allow them to live?!

I concur. it was just ridiculous to me that raping a child (as in a person who can't defend themselves) isn't enough to kill someone over, but we'd rather pay to keep them alive and well. OUTRAGEOUS.
