  2. When they are alive they are amphibians not very clever ones, though. In the Spring they are rather reckless and try to cross busy roads. Results are very often fatal and then they become rep tiles (not to be confused with reptiles).

    Reptiles are lizards, snakes, tuatara and the so called 'worm lizards' like slow worms. Turtles, tortoises, crocodiles, alligators, caimans and gavials are also reptiles.

    Both reptiles and amphibians need heat to survive as they a exothermic and require heat from their environment to function (unlike mammals and birds who are endothermic and can regulate their own body temperature).

  9. No frogs are amphibians.  Just as Toads are amphibians.  The way to know the difference is a reptile is either born live on land or hatches from eggs on land.  An amphibians hatches in the water and spends a portion of its life in water.  Frogs and Toads start out as tadpoles.
