R people with aperts mentally retarted?

Are people with aperts syndrome mentally retarted? or do they just have diformities? im doing a project 4 biology?

Aperts syndrome is fairly uncommon, affecting the craniofacial (head & face) and limbs, and as fulleca has said, mental retardation occurs around 20-30% of Aperts syndrome patients.

My niece has  Crouzon's syndrome and she thankfully has normal intelligence. Aperts and Crouson's are the most common types of craniofacial disorders seen.
