YMCA usually has before/after school care.  Or you might ask your child's teacher to see if any of the mothers are doing home care.  Good luck.

We have 1/2 day kindergarten in our town, too.  There are some before- and after-school "enrichment" programs available through our Parks Department, and through individuals and places of worship...  If you check with your school, they can probably give you some options for some educational and fun alternatives to standard daycare.

The mom or dad could work half time.  That would be the best situation for the kid.

Yes, you could hire someone to take care of the child before/after school.  You could also look into a licensed home day care instead of  a center.
