Question:

R we not misusing electricity?

Yes, everyday when the sun is shining outside the window, we shut our doors and windows and switch on electric bulbs for our lighting purpose. This is gross misuse of electricity. One 40 watt bulb burning for 25 hours consumes one unit of electricity i.e., about seven units per month. Even if ten lakh people use his method of lighting their homes, 7 lakh units could be saved in one month! In addition u get free light, reduce CO2 and global warming, save fossil fuels, coal etc.

With fossil fuels fast depleting and harming the atmosphere and the planet’s health, it is imperative that governments the world over switch on to solar power. Excuses can no longer put off this.

Browse this World Bank honored innovative method and do it at your home. http://dmblog.worldbank.org/mirrors-can-bring-light-rural-homes.

Save the world - It is now or never - 1 unit of electricity saved is equal to 3 units generated. It is sooo simple. All can do it. No charges

  1. I assume your house has it's own solar power and wind generators and you drive a zero emissions car and never fly anywhere

You are very lucky but not everyone has the financial resources to do this

It would be nice if we could

  2. aren't you miss using electricity.......ACTION IS BETTER THAN WORDS,,,,,,instead of giving such a big lecture you better do some action,,,,,its like if you use your PC for 5 HRS reduce it to half a hour,,,,, if you watch TV for 10 HRS reduce it to half a hour.....and its better to collect solar energy and instead of  using it in the day you can use it in the night >>>(well some time in the hot day s we can  use)

  3. I love your enthusiasm, but solar power is still very expensive. With consumer demand the prices should continue to drop. Still then there are all sorts of problems with it, including ways to back up/store your energy for use when the solar energy is not working.

It is only part of a mixed solution to meet energy needs. Alongside this the biggest thing, cheapest thing most people can do is just to be aware of their own power use and reduce it as much as they can. Next insulate everywhere properly. Put on extra jumpers in winter rather than turning the heat up.

Wind power, growing your own timber for fuel in a wood burning stove, using electric companies that invest in renewable technologies etc etc are all ways forward. We all do what we feel we can.

I am glad you are so committed to the idea of solar energy. Why not have a look at Dad's profile, you can usually find him in Environment somewhere. He makes his own solar panels from broken ones he buys cheaply off Ebay. Recycling and making solar panels now that is Green.

  4. A few comments:

    1) "R" is not a word in the English language.  The use of proper grammar and syntax would help a lot.

    2) a 40 watt bulb burning for 25 hours consumes 1000 watt-hours (i.e. 1 kWh) of electric power, I presume this is the "unit" of electricity you are talking about, but it would have been much clearer if you just used the proper units.

    3) you allude to some method of lighting homes but you never explain what it is.  How are we to know what it is you are talking about.

    4) The tone of your "question" is strident and demanding and implies that there is only one solution.  This is a classic example of the logical fallacy know as "false dilemma".

  5. I'm not sure if the term I would apply to our electricity consumption is "misusing".  I think there is a staggering about of efforts and initiatives we should be pursuing to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels and overall dependency on electricity  coming to us off the main grid.

In the next 10 days the office building I work in will no longer have florescent lighting -- we will have shifted over to natural lighting (skylights, additional wall windows, glass partitions, etc.), energy smart light bulbs and will operate off of solar panels when possible.

Next year they are planning on green a number of sections of the roof to help reduce our energy use even further.

  6. tell you what you pull the plug on your house and ill have more units to burn OK

  7. 1 saved is like 3 generated is that like

a penny saved is a penny earned wait that is even you are saying 3 to 1 ratio
