Hi have riden just about every powerful offroad/motocross bike over the last 23 years and now want to ride an R1 ,i know how powerful these bikes are and all the warnings and seen the stupid things people do on these machines ,i realise how dangerous such a high powered bike can be ,i love the POWER but dont go stupid never have never will just want some usefull tips on riding not stupid answers or people saying you wont it handle but they can c**p ,i totaly love the R1 and dont plan on speeding to much just enjoying the power to work and back, so anyone who has a few tips would be greatly appreciated ,I also have done powerslides on dirt gravel etc at over 130kph+ on 640's CR500's etc but really dont want to learn how to do this on an R1 at this stage in my life ,just want a racer to cruise on if you know what i mean

  1. Sorry, but you must have clicked the wrong section, as this is the motorcycle RACING questions.

The best advice I can give you is you to post this question again.

You would get a better response in....

    "Cars & Transportation"> "Motorcycles"

  2. Well I've never ridden the Kangaroo training machine 640, I have ridden cr500s. The R1 is more docile than a cr500, with the way taller gearing. You can ride all day low in the RPMs and it wont do anything stupid, sure if you get ham fisted and start whacking the throttle WFO while heeled over in a corner it'll get ugly. Remember getting spit off a dirt bike doesn't hurt it much, street bikes will explode the body work rip the pegs off etc.
