R4 for a Nintendo DS - what is it?

Question

I know you can download games for free and put them on this thingy called an R4, but can some one explain in normal words (not computery language) in DETAIL what you need, where to get it, how to do it, where to download from AND, will it all work on my APPLE MAC, cos sometimes they aren't compatible with various things which is rather annoying, so if you know.....let me know!!

It will work fine on a mac, it doesnt use software on your computer, just standard data transfer.

You can get them wquite cheap on amazon, you will also need a micro SD card, sometimes it will come with it though.

I cant state where you can get the DS games from, but just put 'DS roms' into google and a couple of really good sites come up.

Its really simple to do, just download the files, transfer them using the USB stick that comes with the card onto the micro SD card, put it into the slot in the R4 card, then into your DS and thats it!

It really is easy and youll be going within minutes of it arriving :)

What do you need?

Either a DS or a DS Lite and the R4DS. Also, a computer with a USB port.

Where do I get it?

Anywhere that sells gaming equipment. EB Games and Gamestop usually.

How do I use it?

The instructions will tell you all you need to know. It's very simple.

Will it work on Apple Mac?

Yes, it will. On the back of the box it will say what it's compatible with. Some are only compatible with Windows XP so you will have to check.

The R4 is a nintendo ds cartridge. The uniqe thing about the r4 is that you can place a micro ds card on the r4. This enables you to run programs on your r4 that you have placed on your micro sd.

The only thing bad about the r4 is that many people missue it meaning that they do thing which are illagel.

Many people who own the r4, download games from romsite.net or nds-roms.com and place the file into the micro sd. If the games is a nds file, the nintendo ds can play the game. The file that you download from the two sites are the complete version of the game.

Many people who own the r4 usually download any game that they want from these sites and play the games on their nintendo ds/lite.

It is only legal to download the games and play it through the r4 is if you have the orignal game. This means, if you bought (for example) a orignal Zelda game from a electronic store and you download the game and put it on your r4, it is legal.

Many people use the r4 if they have numerous games for the ds and find it easier to use the R4.

Overall, the r4 makes the ds a really great device. With the r4, you can play music or watch videos.
