I went to d**k's Sporting Goods today to try out a r7 driver, i really liked it, but I didn't buy the club. When i got home i was looking on ebay and saw the same club for significantly less $$. I looked into it a little more and the ones that are selling for a lot less are club heads that were purchsed seperately and that had a Aldila NVS-65 REGULAR Flex shaft put on in the factory.

Would it be stupid to buy a club like that?

Here are some things that I found from their online store.

1) A:All of our products we sell are 100% authentic with 100% authentic manufacturers serial numbers that can be registered directly with the manufacturer. We have sold and shipped over 75,000 items with a positive feedback rating of 99.9%.

2)THIS AWESOME DRIVER is equipped with FACTORY INSTALLED UPGRADED ALDILA NVS 65-R (BURNT ORANGE) REGULAR FLEX GRAPHITE SHAFT AND TAYLOR MADE GRIP. MATCHING TAYLOR MADE HEAD COVER INCLUDED AND FACTORY STANDARD KIT INCLUDED.

  1. would not be stupid at all. they save money doing it that way and so do you. The clubs on ebay are cheap because 1. they might be stolen 2. they are used, or 3. they are a closeout club that a golfshop got a good deal on...

    go for it man

  2. d**k's is not a good place to buy golf equipment. try Golfsmith or other Golf shops. they would have better deals and equipment.

  3. Make sure that it is a true R7 and not a clone.  The Tour Model R7 clone is a real piece of junk.

  4. Do it!!!  First off, the R7's from the store have the Fujikura shafts, which are great, but I really like the Aldila shafts.  I have my 3 and 5 wood re-shafted with them, and they were awesome.  I am a big time eBayer, both buying and selling.  I purchased my new set of irons, Callaway X-Forged Project 7.0 shafts of there.  They are perfect.  They were a demo set from a pro-shop, I went to the local club and got them fitter for me, paid $400 less than at Golf Galaxy, same clubs I could have gotten there.  It is true that they may be used, but so what, the first time you swing a club, it's used, just make sure it is not abused, ask for a lot of pictures, and if it is a manufacturer who puts a serial number on the club, ask for a picture of the number.  When looking at feedback on EBay, I would recommend reading at least 1,000 reviews and search for someone who has bought the same club and read their feedback.  But h**l, save your money, buy on eBay.  You should be buying Callaway though!!  ( =)  )

  5. I wouldn't do it if I were you.  Even at a reduced price it will still be a significant investment.  Golf clubs these days, especially drivers are incredibly specialized.  The smallest difference from what the original designers and manufacturers intended could destroy the quality of the club.  Of course you could always take the risk.  I have a r7 (store bought) and I love it.  You might consider shopping for a used one, they are just at the right age to be able to get a decent deal without getting a worn out club.  Good luck whatever you decide to do.
