Ok 2 weeks ago i hit my taylormade r5 nuetral driver perfectly and sometimes even a draw. But this last saturday which was 3/1/2008 i just could not hit a single fairway it was all a slice about 40 yards. Sooooooo what do you think i should do stay with my r5 nuetral or go with the r7 draw driver. thanks for your answers. i am also a 16 year old 11 handicap if that helps thanks

  1. the r7 draw is not goig to make you draw the ball if you are hitting a 40 yard slice you are doing something else wrong like getting to steep in your back swing  or dropping your shoulder if you won't to hit a draw you need to get the club face a little closed on impact .

  2. It might be that your swing speed changes I had the same problem. My coach told me that I had to slow my swing down that eliminated my slice.

  3. well if its just one round don't give up on it even tiger woods has bad days but if its been happening alot i wouldn't buy a new driver because that wont fix a 40 yard slice it  would turn it into a fade at most. i would try to work with it and imagine you are shaking someones had in front of you on your follow through to help you turn your wrists over.

  4. It sounds like you are decelerating right before impact. If you hit through the ball you will find better results.  keep the r5.  Attribute you last round to a bad day. Go to the range and work on closing down the clubface. You will find that if you acclerate through impact, and have square clubface with a full hipturn, the ball will straghten out again.

  5. You do understand that it's not the driver and if you get the R7 Draw and hit a fade it won't be because of that driver either. It's just the natural tendency with the swing you currently have. That's what you should be fixing. And at your age it should be a snap.
