RABBITS - PEANUTS, can I feed my rabbit peanuts??

My purebred rabbit, Brandy, has peanuts in her rabbit mix.

One day I got bored so I went out and started feeding Brandy stuff from her grain box, corn, wheat, pellets, ect. by hand.

She refused to eat quite a lot and ONLY willingly ate the peanut- brown, sort of soft, and with white in the middle (Is this a peanut?!?).

So I found a bag of peanuts today, in one of mums draws, I'm now wondering whether I should go out into the rain to feed her peanuts is well as her usaul feed,

IS SHE ALLOWED PEANUTS?

  1. Well ,thats definatly different, I've never heard of feeding Peanuts...

    Umm, heres what you should be feeding though.{Email me, for a complete feed scedule, I'll also add the exercise, cleaning, and play scedule I use}

    Morning

Pellets, palm full or less of fruits and veggies these may include

    Carrots

    *Cellery

    *Bananas

    *Grass

    *Raspberries

    *BlackBerries

    *BlueBerries

    *Potato Peels

    *Carrot Tops

*I think if you grow pea pods, you could feed those too! My bunnies sure loved them!

    *Oranges

    *Pears

    *Apples

As for a snack, or treat, I suggest giving one or two of the above foods. As for the larger food, Pears, oranges, apples, ect, you should always cut these into slices so it's easier for your bunny to eat.

During the evening give lots and lots of timothy hay, hay is one of the best things they can eat, it's yummy, and nutritious.

Feel like sharing your drink with your bunny?

    **Rabbit's Special Cider

Try mixing a few tables spoons of your apple juice into a sepperate water bottle, fill 3/4 with Cold water, and giving that to him.

    Orange Bunnyus

Mix in some Orange juice the same way, or give straight orange juice, but only give a few teaspoons if given straight.

    The Cool Cran Bunny

For a different taste, mix some cranberry juce, with water, or for a more exotic taste, add a little bit of apple juice to it also, this will give it a sweet berry flavor, sure to be favored by your hunnybunn!

Or even think about making up your own drinks, make sure the drinks mixed can't harm your bunny though!

If your drinking gatoraide, stop, and see if you can give some to your bunny, especially if it's hot out, gatoraide has electrolites which is good for everyone, and they give it to cows, and sheep, why not bunnies? They eat the same stuff right? Consider trying it!

Stuff that you eat, may not always be good for your rabbit, this includes the following

Although it may be an easter bunny, never feed it Choclate, choclate, or cocoa beans are terrible, for her stomache and digestive system.

If you like to have sandwhiches with everything from bread to hot peppers, don't feed any of it to your bunny,

    Onions are bad, too much lettuce can kill, dressing is probably bad, haven't heard anything about anything else you would put on{I know, bad exsample of a sandwhich, my choice is just a PBJ, but my dad o nthe other hand, eats all of the above and more, it's disgusting!}

Even if your bunnie's name happens to be Lily, and she happend to be born on Easter, Don't feed easter lilies, they can cause harm to your bunny.

Your bunny isn't a squirrel, so don't feed her acorns

Even though Basil is a cute name, Basil could harm your bunny!

I've heard turnips are bad, but I'm not positive as to whether thats completely true, to stay on the safe side, don't feed it.

Follow some of the given advice, and your sure to have a healthy bunny, however, I didn't include peanuts on that list xD

    Good luck!

  2. Feeding:

Feed a daily ration of American Pet Diner Alffy Rabbit Complete Pellet Ration, an alfalfa based pellet ration for young, growing, gestating, lactating rabbits. Feed Timmy Rabbit Complete Pellet Ration (Timothy Based Hay), which is high fiber and low calorie and protein and is a complete ration to animals that are adult, overweight or with urinary track problems.

Feed alfalfa hay only to young, growing , lactating or gestating animals. Provide adult or overweight animals with as much high fiber hay as they can eat. A good choice is our Timothy High Fiber (1st crop timothy), Timothy Gold (2nd crop timothy) and Mountain Hay (Orchard Grass and other Grass Hays). As with all animals, keep a supply of fresh water.

    Treats:

Rabbits like to gnaw, so provide them with things to gnaw on such as Timbo Snak Cubes, or Apple fruit twigs. Feed fresh vegetables and fruits such as broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, pea pods, dark green lettuce (no iceberg), herbs, grass, apples, pears, pineapple, and papaya in moderation. Always introduce these items slowly as they can have adverse reactions including diarrhea.
